Part-Time Care Specialist – Weekend Day Shift at Empathy

Provide compassionate chat and phone support for Empathy, helping families navigate loss and major life transitions. Research resources and manage Care Plans during part-time weekend shifts.

Description

  • Deliver empathetic chat support that addresses users’ practical and emotional needs
  • Handle primarily inbound calls, including scheduling, service explanations, and logistical questions
  • Help develop detailed Care Plans
  • Process account closures, funeral pricing and planning, vendor sourcing, and other user requests
  • Research and identify relevant resources
  • Keep the Care Team knowledge base and role-specific materials current
  • Guide users to Empathy tools and resources as a product expert
  • Identify opportunities for professional development training
  • Share user feedback and knowledge gaps with product development teams
  • Meet service-level requirements through effective organization, documentation, and time management
  • Work across functions and adjust to operational priorities
  • Complete training and suggest improvements to information sharing
  • Escalate concerns appropriately while safeguarding sensitive user data
  • Support short-term projects assigned by management

Requirements

  • Bring warmth, empathy, and patience to every user interaction
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken English
  • Have experience in customer-facing work, counseling, support, concierge services, or a related field, including internships
  • Learn and navigate new technologies, tools, and platforms quickly while adapting to changing digital environments
  • Follow established procedures and explain complex steps in accessible language
  • Demonstrate strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Show enthusiasm for learning and researching unfamiliar subjects
  • Solve problems effectively while managing challenging deadlines and competing priorities
  • Work consistently and independently during overnight hours while maintaining focus and strong time management throughout the shift
  • Coordinate multiple tasks and projects while maintaining control of the workflow
  • Assess situations and exercise independent professional judgment without close supervision
  • Have experience or training in warm line support, education, public health, grief counseling, disability services, resource navigation, or a related area
  • Be familiar with Google Suite, Slack, Zendesk, or comparable platforms
