Bilingual Client Liaison, Employee Benefits

Serve as a bilingual client liaison for employee benefits, disability, absence, and leave services at Sun Life U.S. Coordinate claims, client support, training, audits, and return-to-work activities.

Description

  • Manage intake, coordination, and resolution for employee benefits inquiries, issues, and service requests.
  • Support absence, PFML, short- and long-term disability, accommodation, and other Sun Life services.
  • Resolve client issues accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Work with client HR and benefits teams, payroll, employee relations, managers, employees, and Sun Life colleagues.
  • Provide guidance and support for training and education on Sun Life services.
  • Maintain current knowledge of the client’s active Sun Life benefits.
  • Coordinate accurate employee benefits administration and processing.
  • Assist with benefits claim submissions and track claim progress.
  • Help employees navigate return-to-work processes.
  • Guide employees through Evidence of Insurability procedures.
  • Attend client meetings and respond to benefits-related questions.
  • Advise on benefits administration, disability coverage, paid leave, and plan management.
  • Use client administration systems to collect employee status information.
  • Develop and deliver client-facing training sessions and presentations.
  • Review reports, perform audits, and communicate findings to clients.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and share trends and employee experience insights.
  • Implement measurable improvements that make benefits administration clearer.
  • Identify ways to improve service performance and evaluate the client relationship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • At least three years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional fluency in Spanish and English required.
  • Substantial experience administering disability and absence programs.
  • Strong knowledge of group insurance products, processes, and paid leave administration.
  • Comprehensive understanding of leave-of-absence procedures, including eligibility, documentation, and coordination with other benefits.
  • Payroll and finance knowledge preferred.
  • Strong customer service capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-directed, adaptable, and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and manage challenging customer service situations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret reports and perform basic data analysis.
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and adapting to changing responsibilities.
  • Willingness to attend in-person meetings and visit client facilities as business needs require.
  • Availability for business travel, estimated at approximately 10% of working time.
