Lead editorial strategy for Elsevier’s Cell Press journal Device, which publishes applied technology research. Manage the editorial team and work with researchers worldwide to shape the journal.

Description

  • Define the journal’s aims, scope, priorities, and formats.
  • Guide its development to keep Device relevant, cohesive, influential, and widely appealing.
  • Manage the in-house editorial team.
  • Oversee thorough assessment of article submissions.
  • Maintain the journal’s quality and value as a platform for research, analysis, and ideas.
  • Use an international network of leading researchers to attract outstanding submissions.
  • Travel regularly to connect with the global research community.
  • Build relationships at conferences and through visits to research institutes.
  • Establish partnerships with Cell Press editorial teams.
  • Work with Operations, Marketing, and Press teams.
  • Help shape Cell Press’s publishing strategy.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated research expertise and broad interest across Device’s subject areas.
  • An extensive international network of researchers in the journal’s fields.
  • A track record of engaging and influencing researchers.
  • Ability to assess scientific issues conceptually and critically across a broad range of topics.
  • Strong organization, project management, leadership, and teamwork abilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Editorial experience is an advantage.
  • An academic appointment with interest in editorial and publishing challenges is encouraged.
