Data Specialist, Advanced Analytics

Develop advanced analytics, impact models and pilot programs for BBVA’s microfinance foundation. Turn customer data into solutions that support Latin American entrepreneurs’ businesses and resilience.

Description

  • Design quantitative studies to understand the economic, social and business conditions of entrepreneurs served by the Group.
  • Track customer outcomes and identify patterns in growth, resilience, vulnerability, formalization, digital adoption and well-being.
  • Analyze surveys, interviews, sales interactions, digital channels and transaction behavior.
  • Frame research questions and hypotheses that inform business decisions, products, services and service models.
  • Build time-series, segmentation, estimation and recommendation models, including next-best product, service, content or action models.
  • Create indicators to track value generated for customers and the organization.
  • Use geomarketing and spatial analysis techniques.
  • Assess new data sources and ensure models are robust, interpretable and practical to use.
  • Partner with Data and Technology teams to maintain data integrity, consistency and traceability.
  • Build and maintain analytical datasets and establish quality controls.
  • Document data, variables, methods and assumptions.
  • Create dashboards and monitoring tools.
  • Prepare reports and ad hoc analyses to support strategic decisions.
  • Present findings to technical teams, business areas and leadership bodies.
  • Explain model implications, limitations and potential uses in clear terms.
  • Coordinate projects with data, commercial, technology, finance and risk teams.

Requirements

  • Authorization to work in Spain.
  • Two years of experience in data science, advanced analytics, customer analytics, commercial intelligence, econometrics or a related field.
  • Experience delivering advanced analytics projects from problem definition through implementation or business use.
  • Experience working with complex databases and large volumes of data.
  • Experience building models for customers, products, marketing, commercial strategy or impact evaluation.
  • Experience designing and analyzing pilots, experiments or use cases.
  • Ability to lead workstreams and coordinate projects across different teams, countries and business units.
  • Interest in and commitment to social impact.
  • University degree in economics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, data science, physics or a related discipline.
  • Advanced Python and SQL (or similar language) skills, with experience in R.
  • Experience developing clustering, classification, regression, recommendation and time-series models.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and model validation.
  • Experience with feature engineering, data preparation and analytical dataset construction.
  • Knowledge of statistical inference, econometrics and hypothesis testing.
  • Experience working in cloud environments and with corporate data platforms.
  • Knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server or MySQL databases.
  • Advanced Excel skills and the ability to prepare executive presentations.
