Remote AI Operations Engineer in New Jersey

Build and operate enterprise AI agents, chatbots, and integrations for Turtle’s electrical distribution business. Help keep AI systems secure, governed, and reliable.

Description

  • Develop and support AI agents and chatbots for internal business needs
  • Turn stakeholder requirements into working solutions, then refine them using feedback and usage data
  • Improve production agents and chatbots by tuning prompts and workflows, handling errors, and monitoring performance
  • Move informally deployed AI tools onto centrally hosted, access-controlled enterprise platforms
  • Work with Cyber Security and the AI Center of Excellence to apply governance, authentication, and access controls
  • Administer and support NeuralSeek, Claude, and Copilot
  • Track platform health, performance, and usage with Data Dog and other observability tools
  • Assess new AI tools and recommend whether to adopt them
  • Support Model Context Protocol (MCP) server infrastructure
  • Build, test, and maintain API connections to enterprise applications and data sources
  • Troubleshoot integration problems with internal teams and vendors
  • Track and control token and API costs through allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and optimization
  • Keep an inventory of production AI agents, bots, and integrations
  • Help respond to AI outages, integration failures, and unexpected model behavior
  • Assist with vendor relations, renewals, license reconciliation, and escalations
  • Create training and guidance materials for business users
  • Follow AI governance, data-handling, and security policies
  • Document system architecture, configurations, and operational runbooks

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • Three to five years in AI, automation, integration, DevOps, or AIOps engineering
  • Hands-on experience building or supporting business AI agents or chatbots
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs and experience building or maintaining integrations
  • Strong troubleshooting ability across applications, integrations, and infrastructure
  • Able to work independently and collaborate with IT, business, and security teams
  • Familiarity with NeuralSeek, Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar AI orchestration and assistant platforms is preferred
  • Experience with Data Dog or a comparable monitoring and observability platform is preferred
  • Exposure to Model Context Protocol (MCP) or similar agent-to-system integration frameworks is preferred
  • Understanding of cloud or SaaS FinOps principles for managing AI usage costs is preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliance-focused environment is preferred
  • Relevant certifications are helpful but not required
