Global Product Engineer, Bearings — SKF, Bengaluru
Design bearing products, models, drawings, and variants at SKF, a global provider of rotating equipment solutions. Support modular design, testing, and product lifecycle management.
Description
- Design products across the portfolio through engineering activities.
- Create and release engineering drawings and bills of materials through Engineering Change Management.
- Build generic bearing models and generate product variants.
- Advance digital tools and workflows for modular design.
- Specify engineering requirements for bearing components and assemblies.
- Set project schedules and release prototype drawings.
- Raise purchase orders and coordinate with vendors.
- Run tests with laboratory engineers and refine designs to meet performance requirements.
- Work with product development centers.
- Lead design reviews and secure agreement from cross-functional teams.
- Manage projects independently while handling multiple tasks.
- Create and update 3D models and proposal and manufacturing drawings.
- Troubleshoot CAD models and apply Geometric Product Specification (GPS) in product design.
- Resolve Windchill and PDM issues related to CAD uploads, attributes, and WT parts.
- Follow established product lifecycle management processes.
- Report safety, health, environmental, and quality risks or incidents.
Requirements
- 3–6 years of professional experience.
- Graduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong engineering fundamentals.
- Experience in conceptual design and end-to-end solution development.
- Strong grasp of product development processes (PDP) and quality requirements.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance stack-up analysis, and interference calculations.
- Proficiency in Creo modeling, assembly, and detailing.
- Knowledge of drawing release and Engineering Change Management (ECM) processes.
- Proficiency in Geometric Product Specification (GPS) and dimensional, form, and surface tolerances.
- Knowledge of precision, accuracy, reliability, and traceability.
- Knowledge of metrology and metallurgy.
- Ability to select materials based on application and design needs and material properties.
- Experience applying measurement principles in manufacturing and other processes.
- Proficiency in manufacturing and machining processes.
- Knowledge of Creo design automation, map keys, UDFs, Pro-Programming, and Pro-Toolkit is an advantage.
- Ability to contribute to continuous improvement, quality, project management, audits, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and safety, health, and environmental (SHE) and quality procedures.
