Business Development Manager, Water and Wastewater O&M — Western U.S.

Lead Inframark’s business development for water and wastewater operations and maintenance across the Western United States. Manage municipal pursuits, proposals, contract renewals, and client relationships.

Description

  • Develop territory plans to win competitor accounts and introduce outsourced services to new municipalities and industries.
  • Map target accounts’ decision processes and key decision-makers and influencers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with client decision-makers and stakeholders.
  • Prepare proposals, advise on pricing, and help form project teams for RFP, RFQ, and open-bid opportunities.
  • Partner with operations teams on contract renewals.
  • Manage the full business development cycle and coordinate internal resources to advance opportunities.
  • Meet or exceed territory revenue targets while maintaining standard or better gross margins.
  • Identify potential projects through client relationships, networking, cold outreach, and market research.
  • Track market trends that affect the operations and maintenance business.
  • Connect prospective customers with solutions from Inframark’s internal experts.
  • Coordinate with legal, finance, safety, compliance, operations, and human resources.
  • Lead proposal strategy with support from graphic design and copywriting teams.
  • Maintain opportunity pipelines and sales forecasts in the CRM system.
  • Keep management updated on business conditions affecting assigned products or markets.
  • Coordinate marketing and promotional activities, including advertising, review media, conferences, special sales, and subsidiary rights.
  • Attend pre-bid events and site meetings.
  • Present proposals in a professional and engaging manner.
  • Support project start-up and confirm delivery of proposal commitments.
  • Understand renewal terms for current contracts.
  • Follow company health and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • A record of success in municipal markets and experience working with city staff and elected officials.
  • A successful track record using consultative sales methods.
  • Experience working with consultants and advocacy partnerships.
  • Working knowledge of water and wastewater systems, infrastructure, and public works infrastructure.
  • Strong business development, opportunity qualification, and consultative selling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at all organizational levels.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms, complex spreadsheets, databases, and presentation software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory to meet clients, attend industry events, and support project pursuits.
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 10 years of related experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification is preferred but not required.
  • Approximately 30% overnight travel.
