Desktop Support Specialist - Indianapolis, IN (Onsite)

Provide onsite, remote, and telephone IT support for Windows systems, devices, applications, and manufacturing operations in Indianapolis. Troubleshoot hardware and software, manage equipment, and resolve help desk issues.

Description

  • Deliver remote, telephone, and onsite desktop support for Windows systems and commercial software across corporate, manufacturing, and remote sites.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, and deploy Windows desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve complex issues involving desktop and notebook computers, operating systems, applications, and hardware.
  • Review incoming help desk tickets and assign them to the appropriate IT resources.
  • Support computers, printers, peripherals, mobile devices, servers, network equipment, applications, and related technology.
  • Record ticket activity, troubleshooting procedures, assigned tasks, and incident progress.
  • Keep equipment inventories accurate and organized.
  • Create and update employee training materials and technology documentation.
  • Perform recurring audits of equipment and software condition.
  • Coordinate with vendor support teams to resolve hardware and software issues.
  • Provide support outside normal hours and on weekends when required.

Requirements

  • At least two years of IT industry experience and a bachelor's degree.
  • At least two years of full-time technical experience maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, deploying, upgrading, enhancing, and configuring hardware, software, and operating systems in a networked production environment using PC and Macintosh systems.
  • At least two years of experience supporting, troubleshooting, and installing Microsoft Office 2010–2019, Office 365, and Adobe products.
  • Experience with Dell, HP, and Apple hardware, Windows 10, audiovisual systems, VPN, and Active Directory.
  • Microsoft certification is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to perform climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive-motion activities.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Highly developed troubleshooting, prioritization, analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
  • Strong research skills, including the ability to assess alternatives and present recommendations.
  • Ability to manage pressure and adjust to changing demands and priorities.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to deliver results while managing and prioritizing multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Strong telephone, written, in-person communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to support users with varying levels of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to create and apply a problem tree during troubleshooting.
  • Interest in learning new skills and methods and developing innovative solutions.
  • Interest in building additional skills in the IT field.
