Payroll Manager – Edinburgh Hybrid

Lead UK payroll delivery for SME clients and manage Client Success Specialists at AAB, a professional services firm operating across the UK, Ireland, and USA. Focus on service quality, compliance, operational performance, and client retention.

Descriere

  • Oversee payroll delivery for a portfolio of SME clients
  • Lead, coach, and develop Client Success Specialists
  • Build strong client partnerships and promote a positive service experience
  • Coordinate payroll work across clients, the CSS team, and QX
  • Allocate workloads, resources, and service priorities across the team
  • Track payroll accuracy, SLA performance, client satisfaction, and operational efficiency
  • Handle escalated client queries, service issues, and complex operational matters
  • Develop team capability through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and performance management
  • Promote accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
  • Lead client service reviews and manage relationships on an ongoing basis
  • Find opportunities to enhance services, improve processes, retain clients, and refer additional services
  • Work with internal teams to deliver effective client services
  • Contribute to marketing, networking, and business development work
  • Assess service delivery risks and introduce controls, improvements, and corrective actions
  • Manage daily payroll operations and oversee QX processing
  • Review payroll results, client communications, and exception reports
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and relevant industry developments
  • Evaluate service data and performance measures
  • Coordinate with HR Consulting, Implementation, Technology, and other internal departments
  • Help conduct client review meetings and define agreed improvement actions
  • Keep procedures, controls, and client records accurate and compliant
  • Support the transition of new clients into business-as-usual payroll delivery
  • Contribute to service development, technology improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives

Cerințe

  • Higher Grade, A Level, or an equivalent qualification
  • Relevant professional qualifications
  • Prior experience managing payroll service delivery in a client-focused setting
  • Experience leading teams and developing high-performing employees
  • Background managing payroll client portfolios and stakeholder relationships
  • Experience with outsourced or offshore delivery models
  • Experience resolving complex payroll queries and client escalations
  • Track record of improving operations and advancing service quality
  • Experience contributing to business development and client retention
  • Experience managing performance against operational and commercial targets
  • Excellent leadership and people management capability
  • Strong client and stakeholder relationship management skills
  • Excellent organisation and workload planning abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of payroll legislation, payroll operations, and industry best practice
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and payroll software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience interpreting service performance data and leading improvement work
  • Sound commercial awareness and understanding of client service management
  • Ability to balance competing demands in a fast-moving client service environment
  • University degree with a minimum 2:1 classification preferred
