Remote Automotive Claims Adjuster at Assurant (Canada)

Handle automotive insurance claims for Assurant, a global connected-world business services company. Investigate and resolve complex cases while supporting customers and meeting regulatory requirements.

Description

  • Investigate and oversee claims from first notice to resolution, aiming for a strong customer experience.
  • Check claims for accuracy, completeness, coverage, and policy compliance, and recommend approval, denial, or referral.
  • Assess liability and risk exposure using available evidence to inform claims decisions.
  • Resolve complex and high-value claims within your authority, escalating cases when needed.
  • Coach colleagues on claims practices, policy interpretation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work with leaders to improve processes, efficiency, and customer outcomes.
  • Join quarterly leadership reviews of claims performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Audit claim files and quality each month, identify patterns, and put corrective plans in place.
  • Encourage continuous improvement, critical thinking, innovation, and accountability.
  • Track performance measures and help meet departmental, corporate, and provincial regulatory targets.

Requirements

  • Fluent written and spoken French and English.
  • Hold an active Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) Personal Lines Claims Adjuster License.
  • At least three years of experience adjusting automotive claims.
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, claim investigations, and settlement practices.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and Windows applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with careful attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Able to handle competing priorities in a fast-changing environment.
  • Collaborative approach and commitment to teamwork and customer satisfaction.
  • Experience managing complex or escalated claims.
  • Able to mentor, coach, and provide technical direction to colleagues.
  • Interest in continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Strong customer advocacy paired with sound business judgment.
