Managed Services Engineering Manager – AIX, Unix & Linux (Remote, US)

Lead managed services engineering for AIX, Unix, and Linux environments at CDW, a Fortune 500 technology solutions provider. Own service delivery, customer satisfaction, operational improvement, team performance, and budgets.

Description

  • Lead a Managed Services Engineering team against financial, operational, customer satisfaction, and coworker objectives
  • Deliver managed services and act as product owner for assigned offerings
  • Align engineering teams with the broader Services strategy
  • Build relationships across product development, professional services, sales, customers, and strategic technology partners
  • Execute customer service level agreements through operational frameworks and standard procedures
  • Improve services continuously through process management, staff management, performance oversight, and key metrics
  • Allocate engineering resources to maintain, support, and optimize assigned technologies
  • Engage customers through sales opportunities, quarterly reviews, and support matters
  • Monitor and report customer satisfaction metrics and survey results
  • Manage workloads, prioritize work, assign resources, and review Service Desk queues and reports
  • Coordinate strategic and tactical plans for the ongoing development of assigned technologies
  • Manage time reporting and related analysis
  • Hire and develop staff, build effective teams, delegate work, and provide feedback, coaching, mentoring, and development plans
  • Maintain the on-call schedule
  • Work with peers to meet company, department, and individual objectives
  • Oversee problem, change, and work order processes
  • Apply and enforce operational frameworks and standard procedures through quality assurance
  • Evaluate processes and organizational structures to identify gaps
  • Manage operational costs, planning, and budgets
  • Advance CDW’s vision of an AI-fluent organization and support responsible AI adoption

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of related consulting or IT services delivery experience
  • Prior consulting leadership experience
  • Experience with process management and improvement
  • Experience with ITIL
  • Experience managing AIX, Linux, and Unix environments, including enterprise operating systems, virtualization, clustering, storage integration, and related tools
  • Understanding of capacity planning, performance tuning, patching, high availability, and workload automation for AIX, Linux, and Unix
  • Ability to lead teams and build consensus
  • Clear, concise oral and written communication skills adapted to varied audiences
  • Ability to balance competing priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated collaboration, relationship-building, initiative, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Ability to identify and resolve client, project, and people issues creatively
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills
  • Knowledge of IBM, Cisco, Microsoft, HP, or Dell products and services
  • Experience working with vendors and business partners
  • Ability to lead and manage teams toward critical results
  • Ability to calculate, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data for reporting or forecasting
  • Ability to serve as a trusted advisor in a strategic partnership
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% or as needed to CDW locations, meetings, or client sites
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
  • Experience with IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu, Solaris, and HP-UX is a plus
