Director of Executive Compensation – Bon Secours, Remote Ohio

Lead executive compensation strategy for Bon Secours, including incentive, retirement, and retention programs. Advise senior leaders and support HR Committee governance, compliance, reporting, and M&A activity.

Description

  • Design executive compensation programs, policies, and plans, including short- and long-term incentives, SERP, and retention arrangements.
  • Advise senior leaders on pay decisions, compensation practices, and policy interpretation.
  • Deliver compensation analysis, financial models, recommendations, and expert guidance to management and HR leaders.
  • Collaborate with Executive Talent Acquisition on executive compensation offers and onboarding.
  • Discuss compensation packages with executive candidates and incoming leaders.
  • Support departing executives with compensation matters when needed.
  • Work with the independent consultant to the Human Resources Compensation Committee on plans requiring Committee review and approval.
  • Develop materials and assist with presentations to the HR Committee of the Board.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Accounting, Tax, Internal Audit, and third-party administrators on reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives involving mergers and acquisitions, cost reduction, audit findings, and compensation system development and implementation.
  • Handle compensation activities related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures, including due diligence, retention, and integration.
  • Produce ad hoc reports, analyses, and support for special projects.
  • Track developments and regulatory changes affecting executive compensation.
  • Communicate and collaborate with executives, Legal, Finance, and external consulting firms.
  • Prepare recommendations and presentations for the HR Committee of the Board.
  • Assist with compiling and reviewing required filings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management, or accounting.
  • At least seven years of progressively responsible compensation experience.
  • At least two years of executive compensation experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
  • Strong critical-thinking skills and sound judgment in decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to operate effectively in stressful situations and take appropriate action.
  • Experience leading and mentoring others.
  • Private equity or venture capital experience is preferred.
  • A master’s degree, such as an MBA or MHR, is preferred.
  • CPP, PHR, or SPHR certification is preferred.
