System Director of Compensation - Mercy Health Remote

Lead broad-based and executive compensation programs for Mercy Health’s healthcare ministry. Advise senior leaders, maintain regulatory compliance, and direct centralized compensation operations.

Description

  • Design compensation programs, policies, and plans for executives, managers, and staff.
  • Advise senior leaders on pay decisions, compensation practices, and policy interpretation.
  • Deliver analyses, models, recommendations, and specialized guidance to management and HR executives.
  • Train and coach managers on compensation philosophy, salary structures, market analysis, merit, and bonus processes.
  • Collaborate with HR Communications on employee communications related to compensation.
  • Direct the annual implementation and administration of merit, market, equity, and variable compensation programs and systems.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of compensation data management and reporting.
  • Lead cross-functional workgroups supporting mergers and acquisitions, cost reduction initiatives, audit findings, and compensation system development and implementation.
  • Collaborate with the Human Resources Compensation Committee consultant and prepare materials for Committee review.
  • Maintain accurate compensation reporting and budgeting while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support union negotiations and collective bargaining activities.
  • Lead and mentor the system Compensation team while establishing its goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Set priorities and allocate resources effectively to achieve ministry goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Management, or Accounting.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification.
  • At least 10 years of progressive compensation experience, including experience in healthcare compensation.
  • Strong critical-thinking and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a stressful environment and respond appropriately.
  • Experience leading and mentoring team members.
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
  • MBA or Master of Human Resources preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR certification preferred.
