IT Support Technician - Kuala Lumpur Onsite

Provide on-site IT support for SBM Offshore in Kuala Lumpur, resolving hardware, software, network, and user-access issues. The role supports end users, maintains devices and systems, and coordinates with IT teams on complex incidents.

Description

  • Deliver technical assistance to end users by phone, email, and in person
  • Resolve hardware, software, and network problems
  • Diagnose technical issues and determine their root causes
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, and other hardware
  • Deploy and update software, patches, and device drivers
  • Create, update, and disable user accounts and passwords
  • Configure email, permissions, and security settings
  • Maintain support tickets, solution records, and hardware and software inventories
  • Write troubleshooting procedures and user guidance
  • Provide basic technical training and security best-practice guidance
  • Use remote-access tools to support off-site users and reduce downtime
  • Work with IT colleagues to escalate and resolve complex incidents

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Further technical education or certification in information technology or a related field is preferred
  • CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician, or comparable certification is preferred but not required
  • Professional proficiency in English is essential
  • An associate degree in information technology, computer science, or a related discipline is advantageous
  • CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate, or similar certifications may strengthen the application
  • Previous technical support or customer service experience is helpful but not required for entry-level candidates
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems
  • Experience supporting non-technical users in a customer service environment
  • Practical experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computers, printers, operating systems, and standard office applications
  • Familiarity with remote-support tools, remote desktop software, and VPNs
  • Proficiency with ticketing systems
  • Ability to maintain thorough troubleshooting and inventory records
  • Experience working with network administrators, system administrators, and developers
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, applications, and support procedures
