Human Resources Generalist at CarParts.com (Onsite, Long Beach)

Support onboarding, employee engagement, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations for CarParts.com’s in-person organization in Long Beach. Partner with leaders and employees across the business to deliver effective HR programs and services.

Description

  • Coordinate and manage new-hire onboarding, from orientation scheduling and offer documentation to systems setup
  • Work with hiring managers to create a smooth and welcoming first-day experience
  • Keep onboarding resources, checklists, and workflows accurate and effective
  • Help deliver employee engagement, recognition, and culture-building programs
  • Act as an accessible HR resource for employees at every organizational level
  • Provide backup support for office and facilities tasks, including supply replenishment and mail handling
  • Assist with performance management, learning and development, and benefits enrollment programs
  • Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Technology, Marketing, and other teams on HR initiatives
  • Help develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and training resources
  • Apply AI tools and HR technology to improve workflows and the employee experience
  • Maintain complete, accurate employee records and data integrity in the HRIS
  • Document and process employee promotions, transfers, and terminations
  • Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including California requirements
  • Answer employee questions about HR policies, benefits, and general HR matters
  • Assist with HR reporting, audits, and other special projects
  • Provide administrative support to the CHRO, VP, and Director of HR

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, management, or a related discipline is required
  • At least 1–2 years of experience as an HR Generalist, HR Coordinator, or in a comparable HR position
  • Familiarity with core HR processes such as onboarding, employee relations, benefits, and compliance
  • Experience in a cross-functional or multi-department workplace is strongly preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Able to prioritize competing demands, work independently, take initiative, and complete assignments
  • Highly organized with strong accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience using an HRIS is advantageous
  • Willing to use AI, automation, and emerging HR technologies
  • Knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance practices is preferred
  • Demonstrated discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or a comparable certification is a plus but not required
