Human Resources Associate — Emory University (Atlanta Hybrid)

Support human resources operations for Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health, covering employee relations, onboarding, leave administration, payroll, and compliance.

Description

  • Administer HR policies, procedures, and related forms for an assigned department or division
  • Coordinate adherence to organizational policies and procedures
  • Prepare, review, and process required forms and documentation
  • Provide guidance on human resources matters or direct individuals to the appropriate resources
  • Advise supervisors and managers while preparing documentation for job reclassifications and new positions
  • Help develop and maintain departmental position descriptions
  • Process payroll documentation and potentially support departmental budgeting
  • May oversee support staff
  • Contribute to human resources education and training activities
  • Use databases, word processors, spreadsheets, and other computer applications
  • Work with Department Administrators and Directors to deliver HR consultation and support
  • Collaborate with Central HR Recruitment and Compensation teams on hiring, salary recommendations, promotions, reclassifications, and merit actions
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding activities, including I-9 completion, PeopleSoft transactions, orientation support, and separation processing
  • Support employee relations activities involving performance management, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and workplace concerns
  • Administer leave programs, including FMLA and related leave requests
  • May coordinate immigration-related activities, including J-1 and H-1B visa preparation and processing
  • Review, calculate, and process payroll adjustments
  • Maintain accurate HR records and data in PeopleSoft and other university systems
  • Support workforce planning, talent management, and organizational effectiveness efforts
  • Contribute to RSPH HR projects, process improvements, and strategic initiatives
  • Help ensure compliance with university policies, federal regulations, and employment laws
  • Protect confidential employee information through discretion and sound judgment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field plus two years of HR administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience in higher education, academic medicine, or another complex organizational setting
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Human Resources or a comparable HRIS
  • Professional HR certification, such as PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or an equivalent credential, is preferred but not required
  • Some experience handling employee relations matters, including performance management, conflict resolution, policy interpretation, and workplace investigations
  • Exposure to FMLA and immigration-related processes
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced workplace
  • Ability to develop and sustain collaborative relationships with senior leaders, faculty, administrators, and other stakeholders
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Must reside in Georgia
  • Must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule according to business needs
