HR Generalist

Description

  • Provide daily HR partnership and operational support to the New York City corporate office and retail stores across multiple locations.
  • Work with Corporate Talent Acquisition and hiring managers on corporate recruitment.
  • Coordinate high-volume retail hiring with store managers using the applicant tracking system.
  • Manage job requisitions, candidate pipelines, requisition details, and current job descriptions; join interviews as needed.
  • Coordinate onboarding from pre-arrival communications through orientation and follow-up, and maintain onboarding programs and materials.
  • Oversee hiring procedures and background checks.
  • Coordinate departures and conduct and document exit interviews.
  • Address associate questions and concerns, and advise and coach store leaders and associates on workplace issues, performance expectations, and corrective action.
  • Support employee relations cases and take part in workplace investigations with HR and Legal, escalating complex matters when appropriate.
  • Coordinate annual performance reviews, engagement surveys, internship programs, HR initiatives, and events.
  • Coach leaders in providing constructive feedback and managing performance.
  • Process employee lifecycle transactions in ADP, including hires, employee changes, and separations.
  • Maintain HRIS data, personnel files, organization charts, and confidential records.
  • Prepare HR reports and analytical insights for HR and business leaders.
  • Support compliance with federal, New York State, New York City, and other state and local employment requirements.
  • Help administer NYC pay transparency, Paid Safe and Sick Leave, Form I-9, workplace safety documentation, OSHA reporting, internal audits, and related requirements.
  • Help associates navigate leave-of-absence and policy processes, partnering with Benefits to resolve questions.
  • Work with Operations, Finance, Compensation, and HR leadership on headcount planning, compensation activities, and payroll budget support.
  • Identify and support improvements to HR processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related discipline, or comparable relevant experience.
  • At least three years of HR experience in a fast-paced setting.
  • Practical employee relations experience and strong knowledge of relevant employment laws, including New York City and State rules and multi-state compliance.
  • Experience maintaining HRIS data and using HR systems; ADP experience is preferred.
  • Workable or another applicant tracking system experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to use AI-enabled productivity tools responsibly for research, analysis, drafting, and workflow efficiency.
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving, organization, project management, communication, and relationship-building skills, with exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Empathy, coaching skills, discretion, confidentiality, adaptability, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, and to engage confidently with leaders at all levels.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to support high-volume retail operations while meeting corporate priorities and deadlines.
  • Hybrid schedule requiring on-site work at the New York City office Tuesday through Thursday, with remote flexibility on Mondays and Fridays unless business needs require otherwise.
