Business Development Manager, Fleet Services and National Accounts

Model 1 Commercial Vehicles is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow national fleet service accounts. The role covers service planning, pricing negotiations, and strategic expansion of commercial fleet relationships.

Description

  • Pursue new business with major regional and national fleet operators
  • Create customized service programs that support uptime, retention, and retail revenue growth
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication and gather customer feedback
  • Identify and qualify national accounts and large commercial fleet prospects
  • Manage CRM pipelines with accurate stages, expected close dates, and opportunity values
  • Analyze prospect fleets, current service providers, operational challenges, and buying structures
  • Own the sales process from initial outreach and discovery through site visits, proposals, negotiations, and closing
  • Create account growth plans and increase business within existing relationships
  • Represent Model 1 at trade shows, fleet conferences, and customer-focused events
  • Assess fleet requirements and develop tailored service solutions
  • Work with operations, service leadership, and technicians to build specialized service plans
  • Record, evaluate, and update service plans as account needs change
  • Prepare pricing proposals and negotiate contract terms, rates, and volume-based discounts
  • Partner with finance and operations to verify pricing and ensure consistency
  • Act as the main contact and escalation owner for assigned accounts
  • Coordinate dispatch, service, and operations teams to keep work scheduled and completed
  • Address service escalations and eliminate recurring problems
  • Lead regular business reviews and cultivate relationships throughout customer organizations
  • Find opportunities to broaden account scope and drive growth
  • Keep CRM data current and report on pipeline, forecasts, account health, retention, and revenue results
  • Contribute to annual account planning and territory and quota discussions

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within fleet services, commercial vehicles, automotive service, transportation, or a related field
  • Proven ability to manage large, multi-site, or national accounts, including pricing negotiations and contracts
  • Strong negotiation capability and experience creating and aligning pricing models across regions or business units
  • Highly organized, reliable with follow-up, and able to coordinate internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Confident communicator and presenter who can work effectively with senior decision-makers
  • Working knowledge of CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot, along with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and company service locations
  • Preferred: Familiarity with or established relationships in commercial fleets, trucking, or vehicle maintenance and service
  • Preferred: Experience using fleet maintenance, service scheduling, dispatch, or telematics software
  • Preferred: Knowledge of DOT regulations and commercial vehicle compliance requirements
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline
  • Preferred: Experience selling to or managing national or enterprise accounts with structured procurement processes
