Bilingual Mental Health Counsellor — Canada Remote

Provide remote crisis support, assessments, and brief counselling to TELUS Health clients across Canada. Serve clients through phone, video, and chat while managing risk and referrals.

Description

  • Respond to clients through phone, video, and chat
  • Evaluate client needs and connect them with suitable services
  • Offer immediate assistance to clients experiencing distress or crisis
  • Act as the initial contact for incoming clients
  • Complete detailed assessments to determine eligibility for brief counselling or referral to internal services
  • Deliver one-session counselling and crisis intervention when required
  • Complete risk evaluations and decide when safety planning is necessary
  • Handle complex situations involving suicide risk, self-harm, child protection, and substance-related concerns
  • Provide support to individuals facing elevated risk
  • Engage with clients empathetically, ethically, and professionally while maintaining confidentiality
  • Document clinical information clearly and concisely in the internal platform

Requirements

  • Live in Canada
  • Hold a master's degree in mental health or a related discipline
  • Be fully fluent in both French and English, verbally and in writing
  • Be comfortable using technology such as video calls, chat, and email
  • Have experience in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and risk management
  • Remain composed and effective in stressful or uncertain situations
  • Apply sound clinical judgment to assess situations quickly, define intervention goals, and support clients with a brief, strengths-based approach
  • Demonstrate empathy, strong listening ability, and excellent communication
  • Deliver high-quality client service, set expectations, and respond effectively to client needs
  • Work proactively and independently, use available resources, and accept feedback
  • Perform effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced setting
  • Québec candidates must have advanced English proficiency
