Senior HR Advisor - Speedy Freight, Hybrid UK

Lead complex employee relations matters across Speedy Freight’s UK freight, parcel and franchise network. Coach managers, manage an independent caseload and help improve people processes within a hybrid People Team.

Description

  • Manage employee relations cases from initial guidance through resolution, covering absence, performance, disciplinary, grievance, capability, conduct and probation matters
  • Coach and constructively challenge managers so they take ownership of people issues and address them with confidence
  • Assist with formal meetings, investigations and appeals
  • Give practical guidance on employment legislation, HR policies and established best practice
  • Check investigation plans, correspondence and outcome documents for accuracy, consistency and suitability
  • Develop effective working relationships with managers, operational teams and franchisees across the network
  • Spot emerging people risks and escalate them appropriately
  • Examine employee relations data and trends to identify recurring concerns, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Contribute to HR initiatives, process enhancements and the development of the People Services model
  • Handle an individual caseload while working collaboratively within a small People Team

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as an HR Advisor, Senior HR Advisor or HR Generalist, including managing employee relations cases through resolution
  • Thorough understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice
  • Able to coach, challenge and influence managers at varying levels
  • Sound judgement and strong organisation skills, with the capacity to prioritise a demanding caseload and handle sensitive or high-risk matters
  • Clear and accurate written and verbal communication, including the preparation of HR documentation
  • Practical, solutions-oriented approach with the judgement to recognise when escalation is required
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a small People Team
  • Confident using HR systems, Microsoft Office and HR data
  • Experience in franchise, logistics, transport, distribution, sales or another fast-paced operational setting is advantageous
  • Experience supporting a geographically dispersed or networked workforce is advantageous
  • Experience balancing commercial priorities, employee experience and employment risk is advantageous
  • CIPD Level 5 or higher and a full driving licence are stated as desirable or required
