Description

  • Review onboarding referrals, including biometric checks, identity concerns, device-risk indicators, adverse fraud indicators, and fraud or AML flags.
  • Screen for potential PEP, sanctions, adverse media, and fraud database matches, escalating confirmed or higher-risk matches.
  • Use industry prevention and mitigation tools and systems to inform investigations and decisions.
  • Investigate potential fraud and financial crime concerns objectively, fairly, and promptly.
  • Write complete, concise, audit-ready case notes covering checks, evidence, decisions, and rationale.
  • Spot and escalate unusual patterns, recurring indicators, process gaps, and emerging fraud typologies.
  • Reduce fraud losses, customer harm, and operational risk; promptly escalate urgent or high-risk cases.
  • Support account reviews, first-party fraud reviews, account takeover investigations, disputes and chargeback triage, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with Compliance, Customer Operations, and Credit Risk colleagues.
  • Contribute to improvements in fraud and financial crime procedures and controls.
  • Identify and report risk events, follow SMCR processes, complete required training, support policy governance, and comply with FCA Conduct Rules.

Requirements

  • Experience handling complex casework, such as complaints, disputes, or underwriting; general customer service experience alone is insufficient.
  • Hands-on experience in fraud, AML, or financial crime operations is preferred, including managing cases, alerts, referrals, screening matches, or investigations.
  • A financial services background is strongly preferred, ideally in banking, fintech, credit cards, lending, payments, a regulated financial institution, or an outsourced team supporting fraud or AML operations.
  • Strong written English and the ability to produce clear, professional, audit-ready notes.
  • Good spoken English for training, asking questions, explaining decisions, and escalating concerns.
  • Attention to detail, curiosity, persistence, and an investigative mindset.
  • Understanding of, or strong interest in, fraud and financial crime risks, including identity fraud, first-party fraud, misuse of facility, account takeover, money mule indicators, sanctions, PEP and adverse media screening, and common application fraud indicators.
  • Ability to follow SMCR processes, FCA Conduct Rules, relevant regulatory rules, and mandatory training requirements.
