Business Development Manager, Fleet Service & National Accounts

Model 1 Commercial Vehicles is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow national fleet service accounts. The role develops service plans, pricing, and long-term customer relationships.

Description

  • Pursue new business with large regional and national fleet operators
  • Create tailored service plans that improve uptime, customer loyalty, and retail revenue
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers and gather ongoing feedback
  • Identify and qualify national accounts and major commercial fleet prospects
  • Manage CRM pipelines with accurate stages, close-date projections, and deal values
  • Analyze target fleets, existing service providers, operational challenges, and buying structures
  • Own the sales process from initial outreach and discovery through site visits, proposals, negotiations, and close
  • Create account-specific growth plans and increase customer spend
  • Represent Model 1 at trade shows, fleet conferences, and customer events
  • Assess fleet requirements and design customized service solutions
  • Work with operations, service managers, and technicians on maintenance, compliance, emergency response, and parts availability plans
  • Record, evaluate, and update service plans as needed
  • Prepare and negotiate pricing proposals, contract terms, rate structures, and volume discounts
  • Align pricing decisions with finance and operations leaders
  • Act as the main contact and escalation owner for assigned accounts
  • Coordinate dispatch, service, and operations teams to deliver scheduled work
  • Address service escalations and recurring customer issues
  • Lead quarterly business reviews and develop relationships with multiple account stakeholders
  • Find expansion opportunities while supporting customer retention
  • Keep CRM data current and report pipeline, forecasts, account health, retention, and revenue results to sales leadership
  • Contribute to annual account planning and territory and quota discussions

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within fleet services, commercial vehicles, automotive service, transportation, or a related field
  • Track record managing large, multi-location, or national accounts, including pricing negotiations and contract administration
  • Strong negotiation ability and experience creating and aligning pricing structures across regions or business units
  • Highly organized, with reliable follow-through across internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for working with senior decision-makers
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot, along with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and company service locations
  • Preferred: Knowledge of or established relationships in commercial fleets, trucking, or vehicle maintenance and service
  • Preferred: Experience with fleet maintenance software, service scheduling or dispatch tools, or telematics platforms
  • Preferred: Familiarity with DOT regulations and commercial vehicle compliance standards
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline
  • Preferred: Experience selling to or managing national or enterprise accounts with formal procurement processes
