Operations Manager, Aviation Catering — Carlstadt, NJ

Lead aviation catering operations, staff, logistics, compliance, and financial performance in support of Air Culinaire Worldwide’s General Manager. Help deliver consistent, high-quality service to clients.

Description

  • Support the General Manager in setting direction, delegating work, and defining performance goals for the operations team.
  • Coordinate day-to-day operational activities across Air Culinaire’s market.
  • Promote efficient performance and help the team meet operational goals.
  • Uphold service standards for internal and external customers and strengthen client loyalty.
  • Train and develop operations staff while applying standard procedures and company policies.
  • Manage team performance and support global business functions in the market.
  • Ensure systems, product specifications, performance standards, culinary practices, and kitchen work meet requirements.
  • Oversee culinary and logistics delivery across catering operations.
  • Supervise and train staff, maintaining the quality and accuracy of food and concierge services.
  • Help coordinate culinary events, regional menus, staff training, and payroll record approvals.
  • Assist with payroll and labor processing, scheduling, reviews, training, hiring, discipline, and related records.
  • Support kitchen financial performance within corporate policies and budgets.
  • Oversee food safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and on-time delivery.
  • Use Shipday to coordinate catering orders and deliveries and record delivery photos and recipients.
  • Assist with inventory, local purchasing, and receiving.
  • Oversee cleaning and upkeep of company assets and coordinate repairs, contracts, and services.
  • Investigate and address food and service complaints.
  • Maintain health and safety standards across the market.
  • Help implement and uphold corporate policies and procedures.
  • Support sales and marketing efforts and maintain local client relationships.
  • Apply Air Culinaire’s Standard Operating Procedure as the primary operations guide.
  • Submit employee timesheets for payroll processing.
  • Assist with weekly company and personal expense reports.
  • Track and audit monthly vehicle maintenance records and costs.
  • Assist with weekly accounts payable reporting and check reports for accuracy.
  • Conduct monthly inventories of kitchen and locker products.
  • Supervise local employees in accordance with the Air Chef Employee Handbook.
  • Carry out other duties assigned by the General Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business and culinary arts, or equivalent successful work experience as an executive chef or in hospitality management.
  • Experience managing staff and client relationships in a business setting.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Three to five years of experience and knowledge in high-end food services.
  • Aviation or hospitality industry experience is preferred.
  • Ability to build and sustain a strong team environment.
  • Ability to train employees, assign workloads, and ensure teams have needed resources.
  • Basic knowledge of finance, accounting principles, and Department of Health regulations.
  • Ability to schedule and manage labor and food costs within a budget.
  • Ability to manage fulfillment teams and processes, vehicle fleets, off-site employees, and related expenses.
  • Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
  • Ability to obtain FAA on-ramp security clearance and pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings.
  • Availability for a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Availability for frequent travel in accordance with Air Culinaire’s current travel policy.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic with whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and follow written, spoken, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Ability to sit, speak, hear, handle, reach, carry, and lift or move items weighing up to 20 pounds.
  • Multilingual skills are preferred.
