Junior AI Software Engineer, Voice AI

Develop Omilia’s drive-through voice AI for quick-service restaurants by building features, tuning language models, analyzing conversations, and integrating client systems.

Description

  • Develop, test, and release features for Omilia’s drive-through voice AI product, fixing defects along the way.
  • Connect the product with customer systems.
  • Build AI prototypes and tune language models for voice ordering, taking effective concepts into production.
  • Analyze real drive-through conversations to evaluate performance and find ways to improve accuracy and the customer experience.
  • Gather business needs from customers and internal teams, then implement the required application logic.
  • Move between software engineering, AI and language model development, conversation analysis, and customer work as projects require.
  • Communicate effectively in English with technical teams and customers, and meet tight delivery deadlines.

Requirements

  • A degree in computer science, computational linguistics, natural language processing, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least one year of experience as a software developer or AI engineer.
  • Strong spoken and written English.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
  • Curiosity, drive to learn, analytical and creative thinking, and close attention to detail.
  • Reliability in meeting demanding deadlines.
  • Experience with automated voice or chat dialog systems is an advantage.
  • Experience delivering production NLU or NLP solutions is an advantage.
  • Experience training or fine-tuning NLP or large language models.
  • Understanding of embeddings, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Knowledge of Java 17 is a strong advantage.
  • Experience integrating external services through REST or SOAP web services.
  • Experience with SQL databases.
  • Experience using GitLab and CI/CD workflows.
  • Experience with the Spring Framework.
  • Knowledge of Spanish.
