Channel Presales Technical Architect - HPE Storage (Hybrid)

HPE storage architect who equips channel partners to design data protection solutions. The role advances technical advocacy, partner opportunities, and channel-led revenue.

Description

  • Expand technical advocacy for HPE storage solutions throughout the partner ecosystem
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to strategic channel partners
  • Help partners position, design, and deliver HPE storage and data protection solutions
  • Increase partner capability to lead with HPE and grow pipeline and revenue
  • Develop relationships with partner sales and technical teams
  • Lead enablement sessions, workshops, whiteboarding exercises, and hands-on labs
  • Find and cultivate technical champions within partner organizations
  • Guide partners toward HPE certifications and fulfillment of program requirements
  • Represent HPE at partner events, technology days, and customer briefings
  • Assess partner and customer technical requirements alongside existing IT environments
  • Convert requirements into solution architectures, including options and potential gaps
  • Present and demonstrate solutions in the context of business outcomes
  • Assist with solution configuration and proof-of-concept development
  • Create competitive strategies in collaboration with partners
  • Create, qualify, and advance storage opportunities with HPE account teams and channel managers
  • Promote technology adoption, upgrades, and refresh initiatives across the installed base
  • Keep pipeline records complete and up to date
  • Coordinate the transition from sale to implementation and identify training requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least five years of technical presales experience with a major storage vendor or storage-focused channel partner
  • Advanced practical ability to pitch, demonstrate, and architect complex storage solutions
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies, including VMware or KVM-based environments
  • Experience with at least two application platforms, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or SAP
  • Working knowledge of at least one leading public cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Expertise spanning the data lifecycle, including block, file, backup, and ransomware protection
  • Strong competitive knowledge of at least one major storage vendor
  • Experience in a major industry vertical such as financial services, manufacturing, or healthcare is preferred
  • Strong understanding of channel partner business models and offerings
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, collaborate with, and technically enable partners across the sales cycle
  • Excellent consultative selling skills, including active listening, framing, whiteboarding, and storytelling
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong awareness of storage industry trends, competitor products, and competitive strategies
  • Strong business and financial judgment
  • Effective project management, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and sales tools
  • Storage industry certifications are strongly preferred
  • Must live within the greater Chicagoland area
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to partner and customer sites
