Software Engineering Manager — Remote in Colombia

Lead engineering teams at R2, a platform embedding financial services for Latin American small and midsize businesses. Own delivery, architecture, hiring, and technical direction across expanding markets.

Descriere

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop engineers at multiple career levels
  • Conduct productive one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career discussions
  • Develop engineers’ technical capabilities and interpersonal skills through coaching
  • Build an inclusive, healthy, and motivating team environment
  • Drive timely, high-quality project delivery
  • Lead manager-focused sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives
  • Remove obstacles, streamline workflows, and improve engineering processes
  • Work with product managers and designers to establish priorities and shared objectives
  • Direct architectural and technical decisions without being responsible for daily coding
  • Promote strong practices for testing, monitoring, scalability, and security
  • Review technical designs and support the growth of senior engineers
  • Connect leadership direction with day-to-day engineering delivery
  • Turn product and business objectives into an actionable engineering strategy
  • Balance immediate delivery needs with long-term maintainability
  • Contribute to budget and headcount planning
  • Represent engineering in leadership and cross-functional forums

Cerințe

  • Demonstrated empathy, emotional intelligence, and communication ability
  • Experience coaching, mentoring, and resolving conflicts
  • Ability to establish trust and psychological safety
  • Working knowledge of Agile, Kanban, or Lean methodologies
  • Familiarity with prioritization methods such as OKRs, RICE, and ICE
  • Experience partnering with stakeholders and setting expectations
  • Track record of hiring and building high-performing teams
  • Strong foundation in software engineering and systems design
  • Ability to assess technical proposals and weigh trade-offs
  • Familiarity with infrastructure, scalability, observability, and reliability
  • Understanding of CI/CD, testing methods, and incident response
  • Ability to relate engineering choices to business outcomes
  • Sound judgment when balancing speed with quality and features with technical debt
  • Confidence explaining trade-offs and risks to executive audiences
  • At least 5 years of engineering experience, including 2 or more years in management or technical leadership
  • Experience managing teams of 5 to 15 engineers
  • Fintech, SaaS, or other high-scale experience is advantageous
  • Fluency in English plus Spanish or Portuguese is strongly preferred
