Descriere

  • Own the profitability, growth strategy, and overall direction of the Commercial Group Programs portfolio
  • Lead and develop a national team of managers and specialists through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and talent development
  • Set objectives, accountabilities, and performance measures covering portfolio management, productivity, technical quality, and profitable growth
  • Strengthen business processes, operational performance, and underwriting quality
  • Create and recommend underwriting policies and guidelines that support disciplined risk selection, pricing, and retention
  • Act as the senior underwriting authority for risk selection, pricing, and retention within the corporate underwriting framework
  • Develop broker and key market-partner relationships to uncover growth opportunities
  • Work with Commercial Lines leaders to align operations and identify improvement and new-business opportunities
  • Oversee relationships between corporate and divisional Specialty Solutions teams
  • Direct operational initiatives and strategic projects involving technology, product development, centres of excellence, corporate liaison, and implementation
  • Perform underwriting audits to evaluate practices and risk-selection decisions
  • Establish staffing needs in partnership with regional management and corporate guidelines
  • Coordinate with regional management, underwriting managers, corporate underwriting, and claims leadership
  • Report to the Vice President on portfolio performance, priorities, risks, and opportunities, with regular updates and recommendations
  • Travel as needed to support team leadership, broker relationships, and business priorities

Cerințe

  • At least five years of relevant management experience, preferably in commercial or specialty insurance
  • Deep knowledge of specialty lines and Commercial Group Programs insurance
  • Professional experience in the commercial insurance market
  • Record of delivering profitable growth and managing underwriting performance
  • Strategic judgment, close attention to detail, and strong business acumen
  • Ability to lead, influence, and motivate teams while advancing change in a complex organization
  • Experience defining clear objectives and tracking multiple projects to deadline
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience balancing competing priorities while delivering several projects on schedule
  • Ability to evaluate complex issues, make sound decisions, and take calculated risks under time pressure
  • Awareness of competitive practices, market trends, and developments influencing commercial insurance results
  • Ability to mentor, develop, and train employees across multiple levels
  • Creative, practical, and solutions-focused approach to business challenges
  • Strong accountability, follow-through, and execution
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed
  • Eligibility to work in Canada; Canadian work experience is not required
  • Candidates based in Quebec must be bilingual to work regularly with English-speaking colleagues across the country
