Description

  • Take patient payments by phone in line with financial responsibility policies
  • Set up and maintain patient payment plans
  • Keep transactions, records, and patient data accurate
  • Explain claim notes, account balances, and billing outcomes to patients
  • Verify, review, and update insurance details
  • Update insurance records in the EMR and resubmit pending or corrected claims
  • Explain coordination of benefits, deductibles, coinsurance, copays, filing deadlines, and claim denials
  • Flag discrepancies and work with internal teams to resolve billing issues
  • Review account histories to identify causes of billing and payment concerns
  • Recommend next steps and resolutions consistent with policy
  • Work with billing systems, EMR platforms, tools, and reference materials
  • Use multiple systems at once while helping patients
  • Meet documentation, privacy, security, and HIPAA requirements
  • Follow assigned schedules and remain available during working hours
  • Complete required client training and take part in additional and cross-training
  • Deliver professional, accountable, empathetic, patient-focused service

Requirements

  • Customer service or call center experience is required
  • Healthcare billing, insurance, or claims experience is strongly preferred
  • Payment processing or financial transaction experience is preferred
  • High school diploma or GED is required
  • Technical proficiency with EMR systems and standard computer applications
  • Ability to work independently in a remote or virtual setting
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Background check required in accordance with applicable laws
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and close attention to detail
  • Sound understanding of healthcare billing and insurance concepts
  • Ability to explain complex billing information in patient-friendly language
  • Comfort using multiple systems and tools simultaneously
  • Organized, self-motivated, and collaborative work style
  • Availability to work assigned hours between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday

Benefits

  • Starting pay includes a $1 per hour shift differential for nights and weekends
  • Paid training, typically lasting two weeks
  • Full-time schedule of 40 hours per week
  • Eligible for benefits on the first day of the month after 60 days
