Information Technology Director, Greenwich (Onsite)

Lead Family Centers’ IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, vendors, and technology strategy in support of more than 300 users across Connecticut locations. This onsite role combines strategic planning with hands-on oversight of daily technology operations.

Description

  • Lead Family Centers’ technology operations, covering infrastructure, security, user support, vendors, asset management, and long-term planning
  • Act as the primary internal contact for the managed services provider responsible for servers and Active Directory
  • Track hosted server and directory health, performance, and availability while escalating and following through on issues
  • Help plan server changes, upgrades, and migrations
  • Administer and optimize Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Intune
  • Manage and support the Citrix virtual desktop and application environment
  • Maintain networks, firewalls, switching, wireless systems, and VPNs across multiple sites
  • Ensure backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans are established and tested
  • Maintain and execute a multi-year IT roadmap aligned with organizational priorities and budget
  • Advise senior leaders and produce technology briefings and reports
  • Create and improve IT policies, procedures, and governance standards
  • Prepare and manage the annual IT budget
  • Implement and maintain a cybersecurity program based on NIST CSF or CIS Controls
  • Oversee Microsoft 365 security using Defender for Business, Conditional Access, and Secure Score benchmarks
  • Enforce multifactor authentication and administer privileged access controls
  • Coordinate security reviews, vulnerability scans, phishing exercises, and employee security training
  • Maintain compliance with relevant privacy obligations, including HIPAA where applicable, Connecticut law, and grant or funder requirements
  • Manage technology suppliers, contracts, service-level agreements, performance reviews, and renewals
  • Provide consistent technology support to more than 300 users across multiple locations
  • Act as the internal escalation resource for complex technical issues
  • Create onboarding processes, self-service materials, and staff training resources
  • Maintain hardware and software inventories and manage technology lifecycles
  • Lead IT projects from RFP development and vendor selection through implementation and employee training
  • Coordinate concurrent projects, schedules, budgets, and stakeholder communications
  • Keep centralized records of systems, configurations, and changes

Requirements

  • Five or more years of progressive IT management experience with direct responsibility for infrastructure, end-user support, security, and vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to lead IT hands-on while balancing organizational priorities and resolving complex operational issues
  • Strong practical knowledge of on-premises Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD
  • Proficiency administering Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Intune
  • Proficiency with Azure cloud services
  • Hands-on experience supporting a Citrix virtual desktop or application environment, such as CVAD, including troubleshooting and licensing
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewall policies, and wireless infrastructure
  • Experience deploying and managing cybersecurity controls for endpoint protection, multifactor authentication, email security, patching, and incident response
  • Experience supporting geographically distributed teams across multiple physical locations
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to deliver work on schedule and within budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical matters to nontechnical leaders and board members
  • Experience preparing and managing an IT budget
  • Preferred: background in nonprofit, social services, healthcare, or another mission-focused organization
  • Preferred: experience establishing or formalizing an IT function with limited existing structure or documentation
  • Preferred: familiarity with HIPAA security requirements
  • Preferred: experience with Microsoft Intune or SCCM/Configuration Manager
  • Preferred: experience partnering with a managed services provider or ISP-hosted infrastructure provider
  • Preferred certifications include CompTIA Security+, Network+, Microsoft MS-900, AZ-900, Azure Administrator AZ-104, or ITIL Foundation
