Senior Business Analyst, Retail Data Products

Senior Business Analyst supporting governed retail data products for Brown & Brown Insurance. Converts business requirements into analytics solutions while assuring enterprise data quality and governance.

Description

  • Gather, document, and prioritize data and analytics needs with stakeholders
  • Convert business needs into user stories, data definitions, mappings, and acceptance criteria
  • Support the design and delivery of data pipelines, curated datasets, and data products
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and prioritization
  • Represent customer needs to data delivery teams
  • Analyze data directly with SQL
  • Validate and reconcile information across systems
  • Investigate the root causes of data problems and discrepancies
  • Perform ad hoc analysis, validate KPIs, and develop business insights
  • Provide analytics that inform operational, financial, and strategic decisions
  • Own data quality standards and governance frameworks
  • Establish and track data quality rules, KPIs, SLAs, and controls
  • Maintain data dictionaries, KPI catalogs, business glossaries, and lineage records
  • Lead stewardship processes, issue intake, triage, resolution, governance forums, and audits
  • Maintain compliance with applicable regulatory and data policies
  • Create and carry out test plans, UAT, regression tests, and reconciliation procedures
  • Check datasets, transformations, and reporting results before release
  • Assist with release coordination and supporting documentation
  • Follow a controlled software development lifecycle
  • Work with data engineering teams and external partners
  • Review data models and transformation logic
  • Confirm that delivered data assets meet business needs and governance requirements
  • Connect business, IT, and data stakeholders
  • Document data models, KPIs, transformations, and data contracts
  • Set and uphold naming conventions, certification criteria, and technical documentation practices
  • Promote self-service analytics and the use of governed datasets
  • Conduct training and enablement sessions for business users
  • Advance data literacy across organizational functions
  • Support change management and governance adoption efforts
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering, Data Science, Enterprise, Finance, Sales, Operations, Marketing, IT, and Architecture teams
  • Report project progress, risks, and findings to stakeholders
  • Facilitate meetings, resolve issues proactively, and build alignment

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytics, information systems, computer science, or a related discipline
  • At least 5–8 years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, business intelligence, or data product support
  • Advanced SQL and data analysis capabilities
  • Experience working with data platforms
  • Understanding of data warehousing and data modeling principles
  • Practical experience gathering and documenting requirements
  • Practical experience with Agile delivery, including user stories and backlog management
  • Practical experience validating and reconciling data
  • Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and metadata practices
  • Knowledge of data quality frameworks and KPI management
  • Strong communication and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Preferred: Experience with cloud platforms supporting Data, AI, and Analytics product outcomes
  • Preferred: Familiarity with ETL or ELT tools
  • Preferred: Familiarity with data catalog and governance platforms
  • Preferred: Experience collaborating with third-party data providers
  • Preferred: Experience in insurance, finance, or another data-intensive industry
  • Preferred: Familiarity with MDM concepts such as customer masters, deduplication, and golden records
  • Preferred: Exposure to AI/ML-ready data environments
  • Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to bridge business and technical perspectives
  • High attention to detail in data validation and governance work
  • Ability to work independently with a strong ownership mindset
  • Ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders without formal authority
