Field Service Technician – Canada Remote

Provide on-site installation, repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting for banking and retail technology across an assigned Canadian service territory. Support customers through equipment training, service scheduling, documentation, and issue resolution.

Description

  • Install, debug, and maintain hardware and software products, primarily at customer sites.
  • Complete scheduled inspections, cleaning, and related service activities.
  • Carry out minor product repairs within the assigned territory.
  • Verify product operation and resolve or escalate problems under established procedures.
  • Schedule service visits, complete documentation, and help customers understand and use products.
  • Diagnose hardware and software failures with appropriate diagnostic tools.
  • Repair hardware at the component level.
  • Clean and adjust mechanical components to maintain equipment performance.
  • Configure and install applicable software.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and routine equipment checks.
  • Replenish consumables as instructed.
  • Install, relocate, add, modify, and remove hardware and software products.
  • Train customers to operate and use installed hardware and software.
  • Take part in hardware and software training, KPI initiatives, and special projects.

Requirements

  • Education or equivalent professional experience is required.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant field service experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and driving record meeting Diebold Nixdorf fleet standards.
  • Computer proficiency and practical knowledge of relevant tools and methods.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, stand for most of the workday, and climb, bend, and stoop while servicing equipment.
  • Willingness to work in outdoor conditions and other external elements.
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including evening and weekend on-call rotations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to organize and track truck-stock parts and tools.
  • Urgency, organization, professional conduct, and the ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Ability to pass motor vehicle record and background checks where required.
  • Relevant industry product knowledge and basic ITIL skills are preferred.
  • Previous Firstline Service Technician experience is preferred.
  • Vocational or trade-school education is preferred.
