Channel Presales Technical Architect (Hybrid)

Hewlett Packard Enterprise is seeking a channel presales architect to help partners design data protection and storage solutions. The role supports customer opportunities, storage adoption, pipeline development, and partner technical readiness.

Description

  • Expand technical advocacy for HPE storage solutions throughout the partner ecosystem.
  • Guide channel partners in positioning, designing, and delivering HPE storage and data protection solutions.
  • Cultivate relationships with partner sales and technical teams.
  • Lead enablement sessions, workshops, whiteboarding exercises, and practical labs.
  • Find and develop technical champions within partner organizations.
  • Help partners meet HPE certification and program requirements.
  • Represent HPE at partner events, technology days, and customer briefings.
  • Evaluate the technical requirements of partners and end customers alongside their existing IT environments.
  • Convert technical requirements into solution architectures, alternatives, and gap analyses.
  • Present and demonstrate solutions that connect HPE capabilities with business results.
  • Assist with solution configuration and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Create competitive strategies in collaboration with partners.
  • Generate, qualify, and advance storage opportunities with HPE account teams, channel managers, and partners.
  • Encourage technology adoption, upgrades, and refresh cycles across the installed base.
  • Keep pipeline data accurate and up to date.
  • Coordinate the transition from sales to implementation and identify resulting training requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least five years of technical presales experience with a major storage vendor or storage-focused channel partner.
  • Advanced hands-on ability to pitch, demonstrate, and architect complex storage solutions.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization platforms, including VMware or KVM-based environments.
  • Experience with at least two application environments, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or SAP.
  • Practical experience with at least one leading public cloud platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Broad expertise across the data lifecycle, including block, file, backup, and ransomware protection.
  • Strong competitive knowledge of at least one major storage vendor.
  • Expertise in at least one major industry vertical is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of channel partner business models and offerings.
  • Consultative selling capability, including active listening, framing, whiteboarding, and storytelling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong awareness of storage industry trends, competitor products, and competitive strategies.
  • Sound business and financial judgment.
  • Project management, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms and sales tools.
  • Storage industry certifications are strongly preferred.
  • Must live within the greater Chicagoland area.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% of the time to partner and customer locations.
