Business Development Manager, Fleet Service and National Accounts

Drive service and parts revenue for Model 1 Commercial Vehicles by developing national fleet accounts. Manage pricing, service plans, account growth, customer retention, and the full sales cycle.

Description

  • Pursue new business with large regional and national fleet operators
  • Create service plans that improve uptime, strengthen loyalty, and grow retail revenue
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication and gather customer feedback
  • Prospect and qualify national accounts and major commercial fleet customers
  • Manage CRM pipelines with accurate stages, expected close dates, and deal values
  • Assess prospective customers' fleet makeup, current providers, operational challenges, and buying structure
  • Own the sales process from initial outreach and discovery through site visits, proposals, negotiations, and closing
  • Create account growth plans and increase customer spend
  • Represent Model 1 at trade shows, fleet conferences, and customer events
  • Evaluate fleet requirements and maintenance needs
  • Work with operations, service leaders, and technicians to create tailored service programs
  • Record, assess, and update service plans as needed
  • Prepare and negotiate pricing proposals, contract conditions, rate models, and volume discounts
  • Work with finance and operations to confirm pricing and ensure regional consistency
  • Act as the main relationship owner and escalation contact for assigned accounts
  • Align dispatch, service, and operations teams so work is scheduled and delivered
  • Address service escalations and persistent problems
  • Hold recurring business reviews and develop relationships throughout customer organizations
  • Find opportunities for expansion and manage account growth
  • Keep CRM data current and report on pipeline, forecasts, account health, retention, churn, and revenue results
  • Contribute to annual account planning and territory and quota discussions

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in business development, sales, or account management within fleet services, commercial vehicles, automotive service, transportation, or a related field
  • Proven ability to manage large, multi-location, or national accounts, including pricing negotiations and contracts
  • Strong negotiation ability with experience creating and coordinating pricing structures across regions or business units
  • Highly organized, with strong follow-through
  • Able to coordinate with operations, service, dispatch, finance, and external stakeholders
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Comfortable working with senior decision-makers
  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willingness to travel regularly to customer sites and company service locations
  • Existing knowledge of or relationships in the commercial fleet, trucking, or vehicle maintenance and service sector preferred
  • Experience with fleet maintenance software, service scheduling or dispatch tools, or telematics platforms preferred
  • Familiarity with DOT regulations and commercial vehicle compliance preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred
  • Experience selling to or managing national or enterprise accounts with formal procurement processes preferred
