Billing and Collections Specialist, Canada Remote

Manage end-to-end billing, accounts receivable, collections, and reconciliations for Berkeley Payments’ corporate mass-payout programs. Help replace manual invoicing with scalable automation, stronger controls, and reliable revenue recovery.

Description

  • Manage the complete billing cycle, including month-end invoicing, collections, reconciliations, and new-program setup
  • Lead the shift from manual invoicing to an automated billing engine
  • Document and standardize billing rules across more than 40 line items and diverse billing drivers
  • Develop invoice templates and scalable workflows that reduce manual effort, processing time, and errors
  • Work with Finance leaders and Technology to define, test, and launch billing automation tools and integrations across QuickBooks Online, Payhub, and client accounts receivable platforms
  • Document billing procedures and establish controls that are repeatable and audit-ready
  • Prepare and distribute month-end client invoices while reconciling related cost and revenue general ledger accounts
  • Configure billing for new contracts and programs by reviewing agreements and validating fees, rates, billing frequency, and indexation
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing differences, and billing disputes
  • Compare billed amounts with processor and issuer activity and escalate significant variances
  • Capture all billable activity accurately and help prevent revenue leakage
  • Prepare client statements of account
  • Manage the accounts receivable ledger, aging reports, collections schedule, cash receipts, and short-payment investigations
  • Create and manage reminder sequences for overdue balances
  • Advise on escalations, payment arrangements, and write-offs
  • Process client funding, fund transfer, and invoice settlement requests
  • Settle invoices by credit card
  • Monitor and report DSO, aging, collections effectiveness, and revenue leakage metrics to the VP Finance
  • Assist with month-end close, billing-to-general-ledger reconciliation, records upkeep, and audits
  • Apply annual contractual price increases
  • Supply invoice data and analysis to FP&A
  • Manage and triage the shared accounting inbox
  • Handle a high volume of client and internal requests
  • Coordinate Finance and Sales or CSM teams on contract-to-billing setup

Requirements

  • Two to three years of experience in billing, collections, accounts receivable, or a related finance role
  • Background in business, accounting, or finance
  • Ability to analyze billing data, monitor metrics, and interpret numerical findings
  • Practical experience improving manual processes or progressing toward automation through templates, Excel macros, workflows, or AI tools
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks Online
  • Advanced Excel capability, including pivot tables, lookups, and large-dataset organization
  • Ability to interpret contractual fee schedules and convert them into invoice line items
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to manage numerous ad hoc requests across multiple platforms
  • Willingness and ability to learn Metabase, Zoho CRM, Google Workspace, Payhub, Ariba, and Coupa on the job
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Exposure to SQL, particularly MySQL, is an asset
  • Experience with an ERP such as NetSuite is a bonus
  • Payments or fintech experience is useful but not required
