Reliability Engineer II - Implantable Cardiac Devices (Hybrid, Minnesota)

Medtronic is seeking a Reliability Engineer II to assess the performance, risks, and quality of implantable cardiac devices. The role supports post-market investigations, risk management, verification and validation, and product improvements.

Description

  • Analyze and troubleshoot reliability issues, then recommend design or process changes that strengthen system and process performance.
  • Contribute to risk analyses for designs and processes, with attention to potential quality and patient safety concerns.
  • Prepare or assist with risk assessments, technical reports, and records describing analytical findings and quality impacts.
  • Serve as Personnel with Clinical Knowledge in risk management assessments when the required specialized qualifications are met.
  • Support verification and validation of device system requirements, including requirements traceability and testability.
  • Evaluate finished product systems throughout requirements definition, design, development, documentation, integration, testing, verification, and validation.
  • Interpret and break down system and product requirements, then confirm compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to investigate quality problems and support corrective actions.
  • Review product performance data and communicate findings for post-market surveillance and product enhancement efforts.
  • Provide technical support to the EPT Defibrillation Solutions Post Market Quality organization for implantable products, including pacemakers, defibrillators, and leads.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or another technical discipline.
  • At least two years of engineering, science, or related technical experience, or no prior experience with an advanced degree in electrical engineering, engineering, science, or a related technical discipline.
  • A baccalaureate degree earned outside the United States must meet the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A).
  • Knowledge of cardiac rhythm management products and their use in clinical settings.
  • Background in reliability engineering or risk management.
  • Clinical experience using cardiac rhythm management products.
  • Experience conducting root-cause investigations and evaluating the risk effects of proposed design changes.
  • Experience applying 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, and ISO 14971.
  • Ability to assess and troubleshoot electrical designs, including radio-frequency performance.
  • Experience designing, verifying, and validating Class III medical devices or comparable regulated products.
  • Ability to analyze data with statistical methods and reliability tools.
  • Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States at the time of hire and throughout employment.
