Senior HR Risk and Compliance Manager

  • Track employment law compliance across the jurisdictions where the organization operates.
  • Assess regulatory changes and turn them into policy updates and practical guidance.
  • Advise HR business partners, people leaders, and senior management on complex employment matters.
  • Maintain records of statutory obligations and identify emerging regulatory risks.
  • Build and maintain the HR governance, risk, and compliance framework.
  • Document internal controls, including SOX controls, across the employee lifecycle.
  • Keep a current GRC register of regulatory requirements, control owners, testing schedules, and remediation actions.
  • Assess HR process risks across operations and locations.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans and track remediation progress.
  • Prepare risk reports and compliance dashboards for senior leaders, the HR Director, and board committees.
  • Review and update the HR risk register at least quarterly.
  • Conduct risk and control self-assessments for Group HR Operations and Transformation processes.
  • Plan and carry out internal HR compliance reviews and audits.
  • Create audit methods, sampling frameworks, and test scripts.
  • Run ongoing compliance monitoring programs.
  • Track corrective actions arising from audits, regulatory reviews, and identified compliance gaps.
  • Maintain compliance records and regulatory reporting calendars.
  • Create and deliver compliance training for HR professionals, people managers, and employees.
  • Develop training on GDPR, discrimination, harassment, whistleblowing, and health and safety.
  • Monitor training completion and assess its effectiveness.
  • Work with Legal, Finance, IT, Data Privacy, Internal Audit, and business teams.
  • Lead HR compliance due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and restructurings.
  • Coordinate with external legal advisers and compliance specialists.
  • Participate in company-wide risk and compliance forums, committees, and reporting.
  • Set up the GRC hierarchy and apply the risk management framework across HR Operations and Transformation.

  • At least 7–8 years of progressive experience in HR compliance, employment law, governance, or a related risk management role.
  • Experience overseeing compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions at the same time.
  • Practical experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, law, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • A recognized professional HR credential such as CIPD, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or a national equivalent, or a legal qualification.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Familiarity with the EU Working Time Directive, UK Employment Rights Act, US Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), and comparable standards.
  • Strong command of GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws.
  • Practical knowledge of GRC methods, risk registers, control frameworks, and compliance lifecycle management.
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS and compliance management platforms such as Workday.
  • Ability to conduct structured risk assessments and develop evidence-based mitigation plans.
  • Ability to support SOX and audit sessions as a liaison between HR Operations and Audit teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage several compliance workstreams concurrently.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative and self-direction.
