Virtual Financial Aid Officer – U.S. Remote

Process Title IV financial aid for clock-hour students at FAME, which provides student information and admissions CRM software for post-secondary schools. Support schools and students through accurate, compliant financial aid administration.

Description

  • Independently oversee Title IV aid processing for students in clock-hour programs
  • Review FAFSAs, determine eligibility, and verify supporting information
  • Prepare financial aid awards and packages
  • Process ISIR corrections and disbursements
  • Perform required financial aid calculations
  • Complete professional judgments and dependency overrides
  • Apply federal student aid regulations throughout each stage of processing
  • Review records and documents, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues
  • Work directly with schools and students across FAME’s two service models
  • Explain aid requirements, needed information, and next steps clearly
  • Communicate with assigned schools by phone, email, and virtual meeting
  • Participate in monthly meetings with assigned schools
  • Provide schools and students with updates on financial aid matters
  • Investigate aid-related issues and determine appropriate actions
  • Partner with the remote team to resolve complex issues
  • Organize workload to meet turnaround, productivity, accuracy, and reliability standards
  • Help develop FAME’s expanding Virtual Financial Aid Office

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in a school financial aid administration department
  • In-depth knowledge of Title IV regulations and compliance requirements for clock-hour schools
  • Extensive experience administering Title IV aid for clock-hour programs
  • Ability to independently handle awarding and packaging, ISIR corrections, verification, professional judgments, dependency overrides, disbursements, and aid calculations
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently
  • Customer service and financial counseling experience
  • Ability to explain complex federal aid rules, eligibility, estimates, and offers in accessible terms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build trusted relationships in a remote setting
  • Ability to balance competing priorities independently within a collaborative remote team
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Comfort using financial aid management systems, student information systems, databases, and virtual collaboration tools
  • Experience with FAME software is preferred but not required
  • Availability from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time
  • Must be based in the United States
