Senior Data Engineer – Technology Consulting (London Hybrid)

Lead data engineering delivery for Credera’s UK consulting clients, building AWS platforms and AI/ML solutions. Mentor engineers, guide delivery decisions, and support regulated public-sector engagements.

Description

  • Deliver client-facing data engineering across a varied consulting project portfolio
  • Create modern, AI-enabled data platforms on AWS
  • Engineer distributed workloads, batch and streaming pipelines, and data foundations for machine learning, Generative AI, and LLM solutions
  • Partner with architects, technology consultants, and public-sector stakeholders
  • Own complex data engineering workstreams while meeting time, budget, and quality expectations
  • Manage teams and serve as an escalation point for delivery decisions
  • Productionise and run data and AI/ML solutions
  • Coach and mentor engineers and client counterparts
  • Support internal initiatives, training, and professional development
  • Advance innovative, high-quality engineering practices
  • Identify delivery risks early and coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve them

Requirements

  • Applicants must have lived in the UK for the past five years
  • Applicants must not have spent more than six consecutive months outside the UK during that period
  • Active SC clearance is required
  • Appointment is subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC security clearance
  • Work effectively in a collaborative matrix organisation
  • Build data platforms with cloud-native services or commercial data analytics and warehouse products
  • Lead complex data engineering delivery with limited direction while meeting schedule, budget, and quality goals
  • Manage teams inclusively and serve as a key escalation point
  • Build data pipelines with Spark, Python, or SQL
  • Use AWS data and AI/ML services, including SageMaker
  • Work with AWS big data and lakehouse platforms such as EMR, Databricks, or Snowflake
  • Design and implement Data Lakes, Lakehouses, or Data Meshes
  • Understand data security, data governance, and responsible AI principles
  • Influence senior stakeholders and establish trusted relationships
  • Anticipate project risks and assemble multidisciplinary subject-matter expert teams
  • Bring subject-matter expertise across multiple clients and industries
  • Productionise and operate data and AI/ML solutions, including Generative AI or LLM applications
  • Coach and mentor engineers
  • Desirable: experience with automated data-quality checks and metrics
  • Desirable: familiarity with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or CircleCI
  • Desirable: experience with LLM or foundation-model applications, LangChain, vector databases, or agentic AI
  • Desirable: knowledge of MLOps and infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Desirable: experience with Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
  • Desirable: experience applying AI or agentic techniques with GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, or equivalent
