Language Access and Interpreter Services Manager – Rome, Georgia

Lead medical interpretation and translation services for Atrium Health facilities in Georgia. Oversee interpreter teams, regulatory compliance, quality programs, budgets, and staff development.

Description

  • Lead the development and implementation of system-wide translation and interpretation programs
  • Ensure services meet state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, compliance requirements, and organizational policies
  • Contribute to system-wide strategic planning for language access services
  • Direct quality measurement and continuous improvement initiatives for translation and interpretation services
  • Partner with leaders, employees, and medical staff to support patients with limited English proficiency and deaf or hard-of-hearing patients
  • Create initiatives that improve awareness, visibility, and use of Translation and Interpretation Services
  • Prepare capital and operating budgets in partnership with the director
  • Track spending, review budget variances, and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Manage employees and coordinate training and continuing education
  • Recruit, support, train, develop, and assess subordinate employees
  • Take personnel actions in line with department policies
  • Contribute to workplace safety and risk-reduction initiatives
  • Coach employees on performance, conduct performance reviews, and promote staff morale

Requirements

  • Previous leadership experience is required
  • Typically requires five years of medical-environment experience providing verbal and written interpretation and translation, prioritizing staff work, and advising employees on complex cases
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in a medical environment is required
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge in health care administration, or a bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge in nursing
  • Professional bilingual medical terminology skills covering anatomy and physiology, diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and health education models
  • Knowledge of medical interpreting ethics described by the National Council on Interpreting in Healthcare (NCIHC)
  • Ability to supervise interpreters addressing sensitive situations, including death and dying
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Ability to use video interpretation techniques
  • Ability to travel
  • Willingness to wear protective clothing when required
  • Ability to operate all equipment needed for the role
