Staff Full-Stack Engineer, Internal Tools at LILT (Hybrid, United States)

Lead the development of internal platforms that support LILT’s AI benchmarking and translation operations. The role spans workforce tooling, data pipelines, automation, APIs, and production infrastructure.

Description

  • Develop and operate internal platforms for LILT’s Applied AI benchmarking operations
  • Partner with researchers and TPMs to turn benchmark and data-quality needs into focused technical designs
  • Lead workforce-management tooling for external contributors, covering vetting, assessments, quality control, payment and delivery tracking, rosters, and reporting exports
  • Guide architecture and long-term technical strategy across the platform and its services
  • Improve IAA and audio-quality pipelines through outlier detection, ASR sidecars, LLM-assisted quality control, and audio scoring
  • Create and deliver modules that connect benchmarking and vetting workflows to the multi-stage review process
  • Manage API-key provisioning and systems for controlling usage budgets
  • Develop self-service ChatOps workflows for engineers and contributors
  • Strengthen background workers and job-processing systems for reliable operation
  • Establish testing, CI/CD, deployment, infrastructure-as-code, and release-automation standards
  • Advance engineering quality through reviews, design documentation, mentorship, and technical leadership

Requirements

  • At least five years of professional experience in full-stack software engineering
  • Demonstrated ownership of production systems from design through operation across multiple runtimes or programming languages
  • Advanced experience with a Python backend framework such as FastAPI, async SQLAlchemy, and PostgreSQL
  • Production experience with a statically typed backend language such as Go or Java
  • Strong React and TypeScript experience, including component design, state management, and modern data-fetching patterns
  • Experience operating resilient, idempotent background-job and worker systems
  • Experience integrating external and platform APIs, including GitHub, OAuth/OIDC SSO, and an LLM provider
  • Experience creating Slack or similar chat-platform bots with appropriate operational safeguards
  • Ability to understand and extend code involving applied statistics or machine-learning concepts
  • Practical knowledge of CI/CD, Docker, Helm, ArgoCD or GitOps equivalents, and Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Experience diagnosing and reducing native-library memory growth in long-running Python workers through safe process recycling
  • Experience building and owning internal platforms for non-engineering teams
  • Additional strength in audio or speech pipelines, data labeling or contributor-workforce systems, agreement metrics, notifications and delivery, heterogeneous data abstractions, ChatOps, rotatable service-to-service JWT authentication, and systems spanning different runtimes
  • Bonus experience with LLM-as-judge or LLM-based review pipelines, OpenTelemetry, LLM gateway or routing services, and data export or reporting tools
