Senior Operations Manager – Kazakhstan (Hybrid)

Description

  • Manage branch operations spanning air, ocean, road, customs brokerage, and value-added logistics services
  • Oversee accurate, on-time customer shipment execution
  • Measure operational performance and service quality
  • Resolve complex operational problems and customer escalations
  • Implement improvements that increase productivity and efficiency
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures, customer requirements, and regulations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop operations, customs, customer service, and supervisory teams
  • Set performance standards and operational KPIs
  • Conduct performance evaluations and career development discussions
  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and employee training
  • Build a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer commitment
  • Protect customer satisfaction and retention
  • Support key accounts through business reviews and operational meetings
  • Respond to service failures and implement corrective measures
  • Control operational costs and improve branch productivity
  • Monitor gross profit and shipment profitability
  • Help ensure accurate billing and prompt invoicing
  • Review operating expenses and supplier performance
  • Partner with sales on customer expansion and logistics solution design
  • Maintain customs, trade compliance, security, and quality standards
  • Keep operational procedures and work instructions current
  • Standardize processes and optimize workflows
  • Assist with internal and external audits
  • Identify operational risks and apply mitigation plans
  • Report KPIs covering shipment volumes, on-time delivery, customer service, productivity, gross profit, claims, and exceptions
  • Lead recurring operational performance reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related discipline
  • 8–10 years of experience in freight forwarding
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in freight forwarding operations
  • Hands-on experience managing air, ocean, and road freight
  • Customs brokerage experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience leading operational teams and managing customer relationships
  • Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding processes
  • Understanding of customs regulations and trade compliance
  • Experience with freight forwarding systems such as Logitude, CargoWise, or comparable platforms
  • Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical and operational reporting skills
