Senior HR Classification Specialist

Support FAA workforce transformation by classifying federal positions, developing job descriptions, and advising managers. Conduct position reviews and audits to help maintain consistent classification practices.

Description

  • Support position classification and evaluation for business lines and staff offices.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of federal position classification.
  • Write job descriptions and classify roles using applicable standards.
  • Introduce standardized position descriptions across occupations where appropriate.
  • Help managers design roles for a complex organization.
  • Ensure classification decisions consistently interpret and apply standards.
  • Track classification appeal decisions and assess their organizational and operational effects.
  • Advise on efficient, cost-conscious organizational structures that support target grade and band levels.
  • Guide management on complex position classification and organizational design matters.
  • Explain internal classification policies and procedures.
  • Deliver senior-level classification operations and consulting, including quality checks on daily work.
  • Review positions and conduct desk audits as assigned, evaluating pay plan, title, series, and grade or band level.
  • Prepare audit reports.
  • Provide guidance on policies and procedures.
  • Explain FAA positions, policies, and procedures to internal and external audiences.
  • Supply requested materials to the Director or delegate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a closely related field; alternatively, at least eight years of progressively responsible staffing, talent acquisition, or related HR experience without a bachelor’s degree.
  • At least eight years of progressively responsible staffing, talent acquisition, or related HR experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in position classification.
  • Federal government staffing or human resources experience.
  • Ability to work within the United States.
