Senior Business Development Manager, Sports & Media — Remote Canada

Lead business development for Apply Digital’s AI-powered customer experience consultancy in the Sports & Media sector. Build enterprise pipeline, guide pursuits, and secure new revenue.

Description

  • Grow Apply Digital’s Sports & Media vertical
  • Develop target accounts independently and generate new opportunities
  • Create and maintain account intelligence briefs and target-account trackers
  • Track relevant trigger events and uncover opportunities for engagement
  • Plan and run personalized account-based outreach sequences
  • Partner with marketing on campaigns, events, and content development
  • Produce tailored outreach assets, research briefs, presentations, and leave-behinds
  • Help shape and deliver industry event strategies
  • Qualify and arrange introductory and discovery meetings
  • Assemble pre-call research and concise discussion briefs
  • Join calls, document next steps, and manage follow-up actions
  • Own and refine the vertical and territory sales plan
  • Assess opportunities and contribute to deal qualification
  • Coordinate co-selling initiatives with partners such as Google Cloud, Contentful, and Twilio
  • Contribute to proposals, pitches, and RFP submissions
  • Manage proposal coordination and internal stakeholder alignment
  • Keep CRM records accurate and provide pipeline and deal-status reporting
  • Direct pursuits from first engagement through contract close
  • Develop a durable pipeline and close more than $3M in new revenue during the first full year

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in business development, sales, account-based marketing, or a related go-to-market role
  • Background in a consultancy, agency, technology company, or the sports and media sector is preferred
  • Experience across a complete sales cycle is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of account-based marketing methods and platforms
  • Professional experience or genuine interest in sports, entertainment, media, or live experiences
  • Working knowledge of AI tools and agentic workflows
  • Skill in building strategic relationships and establishing rapport
  • Strong writing and storytelling abilities
  • Ability to conduct thorough research and uncover opportunities
  • Creative, resourceful, organized, and systems-minded approach
  • Comfort working through ambiguity and creating structure
  • Ability to partner effectively with senior sellers, operations, and marketing teams
  • Interest in selling, consulting, and eventually managing a territory
  • Experience using AI tools for research, content development, or personalized outreach is helpful
  • Knowledge of sports technology, sponsorship, fan experience, or media rights is helpful
  • Experience with Google Cloud or broader technology-partner ecosystems is helpful
  • Familiarity with HubSpot, Common Room, Apollo, or comparable go-to-market platforms is helpful
