Remote Director of Technology, AI

Lead CRM, AI, data, integrations, and security for 321 The Agency, a full-funnel creative agency serving regulated industries. Own the technology roadmap while managing the technology department and its operational standards.

Description

  • Lead and develop the Technology department, including CRM and MarTech engineers, integration specialists, and systems administrators
  • Direct the agency technology roadmap, aligning platform investments with client delivery, growth, and operational efficiency
  • Define standards for implementation, quality assurance, documentation, change management, and support
  • Run one-on-ones and performance reviews, provide technical coaching, and strengthen team capabilities
  • Act as the escalation point for outages, integration failures, data problems, and complex technical issues
  • Manage internal collaboration, project management, identity, file storage, and communications platforms
  • Administer access, single sign-on, device policies, provisioning, and offboarding for the remote workforce
  • Create information security, backup, and incident response processes
  • Ensure agency and client systems satisfy applicable privacy and compliance obligations
  • Oversee technology vendors, licenses, contracts, and spending while assessing build-versus-buy options
  • Establish architecture and governance standards for HighLevel, Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and HubSpot programs
  • Oversee CRM, advertising, website, call-tracking, payment, and third-party integrations through APIs, webhooks, and middleware
  • Standardize snapshots, templates, naming conventions, tagging practices, and data hygiene
  • Lead client onboarding and CRM migration discovery, including data mapping, cleansing, and cutover preparation
  • Evaluate complex implementations for scalability, reliability, and maintainability
  • Drive AI adoption across operations, reporting, CRM personalization, conversational AI, and workflow automation
  • Assess and deploy AI tools and large language model solutions
  • Develop internal automations and AI-supported workflows
  • Own conversion tracking, Google Tag Manager, GA4, server-side tracking, offline conversion imports, data pipelines, and reporting infrastructure
  • Work with marketing leadership on lead tracking, cost-per-lead reporting, and audience syndication
  • Maintain client dashboard environments in Looker Studio, Power BI, or comparable platforms
  • Define and monitor data quality standards
  • Act as the senior technology advisor in client strategy meetings, QBRs, and new business presentations
  • Provide technology recommendations, solution architecture, and implementation estimates for proposals and RFPs
  • Coordinate shared client and platform requirements with 321 AIM
  • Find opportunities to turn repeatable technology solutions into products

Requirements

  • Bring at least eight years of experience in technology, MarTech, or systems roles
  • Demonstrate strong expertise in CRM architecture, integrations, and data infrastructure
  • Prior agency experience is strongly preferred
  • Have two to three or more years leading a department, team, or senior function with direct reports
  • Hands-on experience designing and governing HighLevel CRM and marketing automation programs is strongly preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, or HubSpot is valuable
  • Bring advanced experience with APIs, webhooks, and middleware platforms such as Zapier, Make, or n8n
  • Demonstrate strong command of conversion measurement infrastructure, including Google Tag Manager, GA4, server-side tracking, and offline conversion imports
  • Understand data pipelines, data warehousing, and reporting platforms such as BigQuery, Looker Studio, or Power BI
  • Have experience administering cloud business systems, identity and access management, and security for remote teams
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, TCPA, A2P 10DLC, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and CCPA
  • Have practical experience deploying AI tools and LLM-based workflows with sound data privacy judgment
  • Scripting or development skills in JavaScript, Python, SQL, or a comparable language are a strong advantage
  • Communicate clearly and effectively
  • Organize work well and prioritize competing demands
  • Relevant platform certifications are advantageous
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Marketing Technology, or a related field, or demonstrate equivalent experience
