Head of Business Operations - UK Remote

Lead the operating system for Glassworks London’s independent fashion retail and ecommerce business. Improve KPI accountability, inventory accuracy, business continuity, and systems-led execution across distributed teams.

Description

  • Own the company operating rhythm through weekly cadences, action registers, decision logs, cross-functional follow-up, and escalation
  • Prepare recurring operating reports and management packs for the Founder and CEO
  • Monitor KPIs, variances, root causes, owners, corrective actions, deadlines, recovery status, blockers, and required decisions
  • Ensure KPI shortfalls have recovery plans led by accountable functional owners
  • Hold leaders accountable across Retail, Ecommerce, Warehouse, HR Operations, Finance, Creative and Brand, Marketing, Buying, Merchandising, Production, Business Development, and external partners
  • Identify operating failures across infrastructure, ownership, capacity, capability, management behaviour, processes, systems, training, and performance
  • Apply Build, QA, and Own disciplines to recurring work
  • Own organisational capacity, productivity, and business continuity
  • Lead the inventory-accuracy management rhythm and challenge inventory controls
  • Provide operational assurance across ecommerce fulfilment, warehouse operations, and retail dependencies
  • Lead the HR Operations rhythm covering recruitment administration, onboarding, offboarding, probation controls, and manager HR actions
  • Govern SOPs and operating standards
  • Set technology priorities from an operational and business perspective
  • Partner with Business Systems and Technology Operations on requirements, vendors, implementation, integrations, migration, UAT, rollout, documentation, and access infrastructure
  • Ensure effective IT and technology support for UK and international teams
  • Lead recovery when plans fail through evidence review, reset planning, accountability, escalation, and follow-through

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading senior business operations, operating systems, or operations integration
  • Substantial experience in fast-moving omnichannel retail, ecommerce, consumer, grocery, or comparable multi-site operations
  • Experience managing managers or establishing credible authority with experienced functional leaders
  • Experience building operating cadences across multiple teams or functions
  • Track record of creating KPI rhythms that improve outcomes
  • Experience producing CEO and senior-management reporting that drives decisions and recovery actions
  • Experience resolving cross-functional issues using clear owners, actions, deadlines, and evidence
  • Experience reducing dependency on founders, CEOs, or other senior leaders
  • Ability to diagnose infrastructure, capability, ownership, process, systems, capacity, and performance problems
  • Fluency in inventory management, including accuracy, receiving, put-away, stocktakes, transfers, discrepancies, faulty stock, and inventory-system controls
  • Experience improving operations through systems, dashboards, automation, AI, SOPs, or workflow redesign
  • Commercial understanding of stock, stores, customers, fulfilment, cost, service, and operational risk
  • Experience leading distributed teams and maintaining visibility without physical presence
  • Structured without being bureaucratic, commercially literate, systems-minded, AI-capable, calm under pressure, direct with managers, and able to escalate with options and recommendations
  • Availability to work fully within UK business hours, Monday to Friday, from 9:00am to 5:30pm UK time
