Description

Direct the Engineering organization and guide its continued development
Establish a strong second leadership layer across Engineering and team leadership
Recruit capable engineering leaders
Refine structures, responsibilities, and ownership to support efficient Engineering growth
Form project and product teams with the technical expertise required for each initiative
Advance software engineering by bringing hardware and software development together within a software-defined approach
Share accountability for the technology strategy behind new products
Ensure development work creates an architectural base for a scalable, extensible product portfolio
Improve collaboration and clarify responsibilities between Engineering and Product Management
Partner with Business Development and Product to evaluate customer requirements for technical feasibility, delivery effort, and strategic alignment
Serve as a technical advisor to the founder and management team

Requirements

Several years of experience leading and managing technical organizations
A track record of building or scaling Engineering teams
Deep defence-sector experience and a strong understanding of military users, requirements, and operating environments
A software-defined perspective paired with a solid understanding of physical systems
Experience delivering complex products that closely integrate hardware and software
Ideally, exposure to embedded software, real-time systems, robotics, autonomous systems, or similar cyber-physical technologies
Experience with hardware development, including electronics, mechanics, or composite materials
Enough technical depth to evaluate architecture and lead experienced engineers technically
Experience in a rapidly growing start-up or scale-up is a strong advantage
Willingness to work regularly in person with the Engineering team in Munich
