Business Development Partner - Sun Life (Montreal Hybrid)

Recruit, develop, and coach Sun Life advisors as they build insurance and wealth practices. Support licensing, sales growth, regulatory compliance, and district performance.

Description

  • Recruit, onboard, train, develop, and coach advisors throughout their first four years
  • Help advisors establish businesses and develop holistic practices spanning life and health insurance and wealth products
  • Identify advisor candidates through community relationships, referrals, and centres of influence
  • Guide candidates through licensing preparation, market definition, business planning, and joint client meetings
  • Deliver training on product knowledge, sales processes, and pre- and post-sale support
  • Coach advisors on prospecting, holistic practice development, cross-selling, sales cycles, and business management
  • Help advisors meet sales growth, productivity, and client engagement goals
  • Work with head office Centre of Excellence teams to support advisors
  • Track advisor activities, monitor progress, and analyze data to produce business insights
  • Oversee compliant operations, training, licensing, registration, and product suitability reviews
  • Escalate client complaints and carry out advisor investigations
  • Ensure advisor conduct complies with the Advisor Agreement
  • Meet recruiting and production targets
  • Promote a positive district culture through events, recognition programs, and meetings
  • Strengthen Sun Life’s and local advisors’ community presence through events, activities, and sponsorships
  • Report to the District Manager while collaborating with district and regional teams

Requirements

  • At least two years of related experience in the financial services industry
  • Hold a valid Life Insurance Agent’s license in the province where the district is located
  • Hold a valid Mutual Fund license or obtain one within the first 90 days
  • Complete the Branch Manager’s Course Examination and meet the experience requirements for registration as a mutual fund branch manager with the applicable provincial securities commission within the first six months
  • Remain in good standing with applicable regulators
  • Demonstrated business acumen, insurance and wealth product knowledge, and awareness of the market, competition, and industry
  • Strong sales management and business development capabilities
  • Strong prospecting and recruiting abilities
  • Strong mentoring, coaching, performance management, and influencing skills
  • Effective problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Bilingual French and English proficiency, both oral and written, is required
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Ability to help advisors define and access their target markets
  • Previous experience leading sales teams
  • Goal-oriented approach with a focus on achieving targets
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment
  • Ability to manage an effective performance management process within a sales culture
  • Commitment to continuous personal and professional development
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com, financial planning software, and Microsoft applications
