Business Development Manager – Florida Remote

Lead field sales growth for American Express financial solutions among Middle Market businesses with $10M–$300M in revenue. Build executive relationships, manage acquisition pipelines, and close complex deals.

Description

  • Lead territory-wide client acquisition through strategic, consultative selling focused on high-value Middle Market businesses
  • Develop and maintain relationships with CEOs, CFOs, and other senior financial decision-makers
  • Source, develop, and convert new opportunities using market intelligence, professional networks, and industry expertise
  • Maintain an active presence in the market, including 25–50% travel
  • Oversee a high-value pipeline through accurate forecasting, strong conversion, and consistent quota performance
  • Apply data, analytics, and financial expertise to prioritize opportunities and allocate resources effectively
  • Partner with Risk, Underwriting, Pricing, and Product teams to create tailored, profitable solutions
  • Lead discovery discussions to understand client challenges and uncover growth opportunities
  • Design American Express solutions addressing working capital optimization and expense management
  • Share perspectives on market developments, payment innovation, and financial transformation
  • Lead complex negotiations and help executive stakeholders evaluate strategic and financial considerations
  • Close new business and transition accounts to the Field Account Development team
  • Follow the American Express Code of Conduct and Sales Practice standards
  • Demonstrate ethical judgment and promote compliance throughout the sales process

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of demonstrated success in complex B2B, commercial, or financial sales
  • A consistent record of top-quartile performance and exceeding ambitious sales goals
  • Advanced consultative selling skills, including influencing C-suite decision-makers and closing large, high-impact opportunities
  • Proven solution-selling experience in payments, financial services, SaaS, or related sectors
  • Strong financial acumen and the ability to explain ROI, profitability, and business impact
  • Ability to review client financial statements, analyze balance sheets, and recognize working capital requirements
  • Exceptional skill in turning complex offerings into clear, actionable client value
  • Comfort working in a regulated environment
  • Ability to work independently, apply creative thinking, and deliver measurable results within a large institutional organization
  • Adaptability when priorities and market conditions change quickly
  • Expertise in CRM administration, pipeline forecasting, and disciplined sales execution
  • Authorization to work for American Express in the United States; visa sponsorship will not be provided
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; an advanced degree or equivalent professional experience is valued
