Senior Cloud Operations Lead — Xelon AG, Switzerland (Hybrid)

Lead operations for Xelon’s secure Swiss cloud infrastructure and VMware production environment. Oversee incident response, compliance, automation, and a service desk team of four to six.

Opis

  • Run Xelon’s cloud platform, covering availability, incident response, monitoring, backup, recovery, and infrastructure.
  • Lead four to six colleagues across cloud operations and the service desk.
  • Operate and optimise a multi-hypervisor production environment, primarily on VMware.
  • Manage availability, performance, capacity planning, hardware lifecycle, and partner-run datacenter operations.
  • Oversee operational networking and storage, including segmentation, routing, firewalls, DNS, load balancing, and storage systems.
  • Operate and improve monitoring, alerting, and logging.
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery, and verify that restores work.
  • Lead service desk intake and triage, maintaining ticket quality and response times against service levels.
  • Escalate and resolve first- and second-level support incidents.
  • Work with engineering to turn recurring tickets into lasting fixes.
  • Coach and develop the operations and service desk team, including development plans and sustainable on-call coverage.
  • Automate recurring manual operations with Infrastructure as Code and scripting.
  • Improve operational tools and handovers with DevOps, Support, and Product.
  • Maintain ISO 27001, ISAE, Swiss data sovereignty, and patch compliance, along with audit evidence and operational documentation.
  • Share responsibility for operational CAPEX and OPEX budgets, vendors, licences, and procurement.

Zahteve

  • At least five years leading IT operations in a cloud, hosting, or service provider environment.
  • Hands-on experience running VMware in production.
  • Practical knowledge of networking, storage, and datacenter operations.
  • Confident spoken and written German and English.
  • Swiss or EU/EFTA citizenship, or a valid Swiss work permit.
  • Provider-scale networking experience, including segmentation, routing, firewalls, load balancing, and DNS.
  • Experience with hypervisors alongside VMware and with hypervisor migrations.
  • Hands-on Infrastructure as Code experience, for example with Terraform or Ansible.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging at scale, using Prometheus, Grafana, or a comparable stack.
  • Experience operating in a regulated environment such as ISO 27001, ISAE, or SOC 2.
  • Experience managing operations during a platform migration or consolidation.
