AML Compliance Officer, Zimbabwe (Remote)

Lead local AML compliance for Yellow Card’s stablecoin infrastructure and VASP operations in Zimbabwe. Oversee transaction monitoring, regulatory engagement, AML program delivery, and FIU reporting.

  • Lead local AML compliance and serve as the money laundering reporting officer for Yellow Card Zimbabwe.
  • Provide in-country expertise on Zimbabwean AML law and supervisory expectations.
  • Deliver daily compliance support in a high-volume operational setting.
  • Advise the Group MLRO on Zimbabwean AML obligations, FATF and ESAAMLG expectations, and VASP requirements.
  • Turn regulatory developments into practical guidance for product, operations, customer-facing, and leadership teams.
  • Build working relationships with the FIU, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe, banking and payment partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Serve as the resident compliance contact for registrations, renewals, reporting, inspections, and information requests.
  • Help design, implement, and improve the AML program, including its policies, procedures, risk assessment, and customer risk-rating approach.
  • Ensure controls address customer due diligence, beneficial ownership, record keeping, ongoing monitoring, and internal reporting.
  • Review and resolve a high volume of transaction monitoring alerts.
  • Conduct enhanced due diligence on high-risk customers, counterparties, and fiat and digital-asset transactions.
  • Use on-chain analytics to assess source of funds and source of wealth.
  • Prepare and support suspicious transaction reports to the FIU.
  • Support customer onboarding and periodic reviews covering KYB, beneficial ownership, and PEP requirements.
  • Screen against UN, OFAC, EU, and local sanctions and PEP lists.
  • Implement and run Travel Rule processes, including counterparty VASP due diligence and information-sharing workflows.
  • Deliver training on AML, sanctions, and crypto-specific risks.
  • Support reporting to regulators, auditors, the Board, and relevant committees.
  • Monitor regulatory and supervisory developments and assess their business impact.
  • Maintain management information and metrics that demonstrate AML program effectiveness.

  • Bachelor’s degree in law, finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.
  • One to three years of practical AML, financial crime, or compliance experience at a bank, financial institution, payment provider, remittance company, or fintech regulated in Zimbabwe or a comparable jurisdiction.
  • Strong working knowledge of Zimbabwean AML laws and regulations, including the Money Laundering and Proceeds of Crime Act, VASP registration regime, FIU reporting obligations, and FATF standards as applied in Zimbabwe.
  • Direct experience with crypto or digital assets.
  • Understanding of VASP-specific risks, blockchain analytics, wallet screening, and Travel Rule implementation.
  • ACAMS Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification is required.
  • Business-level spoken and written English proficiency.
  • Residency in Zimbabwe and authorization to work there.
  • Additional certifications such as CCAS, CCI, CFCS, or equivalent are advantageous.
  • Completed AML training or workshops related to the FIU, Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, or ESAAMLG are advantageous.
  • Experience working with Zimbabwean banks, payment providers, or regulators, including direct FIU engagement, is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Chainalysis, TRM Labs, or Elliptic is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Shona and/or Ndebele is advantageous.
  • Exposure to cross-border payments and emerging-market financial services is advantageous.
